Thanks, JP! I owe it all to the pal that pointed me in the direction of a rock that it never would have occurred to me to turn over. Soft vinyl at $3.30 an inch? Preposterous! Don't get me started on the free elbows...

That's one hell of a rock! And one hell of a pointer!

And am I wrong - that he's in excellent condition?

Mint green - he was bagged 'n headered until about 20 seconds after I opened the box, JP. Any and all wabi-sabi is left to yours truly to generate.

Thanks, Steve! Can't seem to put him down. I'm thinking about fashioning a papoose so that we can always be together.

I dunno, as good as that would be, I hear that you aren't cool these days unless you are sporting a sling/wrap number.

I saw a guy longboarding on my walk home tonight... with his small dog strapped to his chest.
I'm still not sure whether I'm disgusted or just amused... but leaning toward disgusted.

Just wanted to say I posted my first Tokoji Seijin a couple pages back (which has become one of my favorites, and not just because it's new) and I posted the same pic on FB earlier today and one of my non-sofubi collecting friends informed me it was a kappa, which I did not know. I'm thinking maybe he encountered the creature in a JRPG (of which he is an enthusiast) or something. Weird.

Kappa is one of the most famous Yokai outside of Japan so its maybe not surprising they had seen one before.
If they had known about Nuppeppo or Kasa-obake, then that would of been unusual . . .

Hmm... I like to think I'm a little more familiar with Japanese culture than your typical gaijin, but outside of having seen some pretty cool apparitions/demons in Japanese prints, I'm pretty clueless on the particulars of the whole yokai thing. I don't even understand why they have such a multitude of the things. In the US we basically have like one type of ghost. It wears a bedsheet and rattles chains in the middle of the night and everybody's happy. I don't know what's going on.

Got this stuff a little while ago. The guy on the right is a pisser, because his feet are poorly molded/sculpted, so he leans forward, so you can't position his arms forward and you have to position the tentacles on top of his head just so or he'll fall forward. He's (she's?) from a manga franchise called Akuma-kun. The little grey dude is growing on me. Not the usual type of thing I go for.

Yeah, that set is quite crudely sculpted (but nice) and hard to find at a fair price.
The unpainted versions appear for sale way more than the painted.
They are going for silly money recently . . . . that one you have is really cool.

They tend to get lumped-in with Sunguts because of the Shigeru Mizuki connection.
I'm not sure if Sunguts had anything to do with them or not.

Well, I guess it's some consolation that I didn't just get a bad pull. I paid about $100 for him bagged, which seemed far to my totally unknowledgeable self. I actually saw the painted skull-head guy recently and considered getting him. I didn't realize the were by the same guy! Is that awesome ghost group you posted in the Sunguts thread by Mizuki, too?

Tell me what you think of this: I really wanted to get this, but I'm a bit put off by the sloppy paint under the jaw (they have an unpainted one at the same price, but I don't really care about that one). I've actually done some minor retouching on a couple of pieces before, but I'm not sure my hand's steady enough for this one. What do you think?

    Yep, they are from Akuma-kun . . .

As for whether the skeleton is a good buy or not, its up to you. I personally think the line is pretty cool, and i would of picked them up by now
if they weren't so expensive. They are crude and look a bit sloppy but i still like them . . .

I think painting that missing bit would be easy enough but matching the colour would be the hard part.

Apparently Akuma-kun is all around me, I just wasn't aware of it!

I used to be an oil painter, so I can mix paints pretty well and I still have my paints. I patched a pretty bad scuff on a Marmit Mongler that way and it seems to be doing fine. I'll have to give it some thought. Thanks!

Those guys are Darkside Hero Toys, don't think there was a sunguts connection. Funny they get lumped in with his stuff.

Well, the receipt (I tossed the header. please don't crucify me, it was pretty boring) says DxSxHx, which I guess stands for Dark Side Hero.

Sure @Odibex, Amapro is the maker, it's from a vintage tokusatsu serial named Armor Jack, can't remember the name of this guy.
