UltraKaiju beat me to the punch. Here are a few more details - That would be Magura (マグラー) from the 8th episode of the original Ultraman series. This figure was made in 1997 and is VP-29 in the Marmit Vinyl Paradise series.
Hah, that's funny!! I don't have the Magura in my collection but I do have the cool Marmit Neronga which also came from the same Baragon suit as Magura (as well as a few others like Pagos). I wonder how she would feel about those figs??!!
Wait you have a girlfriend that actually likes most of your toys? I think I'd keel over and die if my girlfriend said she even liked one of them. Although she did complement me on my vintage Fireman head pic, not the same thing of course but I'll take what I can get.
Freaky Yokai sculpts . . . another random reason why Marmit rules! Marmit Yokai by The Moog Image Dump, on Flickr
^^^ the cyclops is Dorotabo and the grey blob is Nuppeppo. Noppera-bo is a humanoid ghost with no face that gets confused with Nuppeppo quite often . . . probably because the name is similar. Nuppeppo by The Moog Image Dump, on Flickr
I hadn't ever ready about Nuppeppo, I just always assumed people were taking a lot of creative license and creating a lumpy blob style Noppero-bo. I learned my Bear Model Nuppeppo to be called Noppera-bo and just went with that. You learn something new every day. I would not have guessed the other guy was a Dorotabo, but I like the figure.
^^ Yeah, i did'nt realise that sculpt was 'Dorotabo' either until recently - but i've always admired it. On his foot stamp they've spelt it 'Dorota Bo'. I waited something like 6 months pre-order for that one and then recently scored 3 in one go from an SB'er! You just never know
*cross-posting from kaiju battle!* here's an old, stop-motion-ish video (click thumbnail to watch): (starring marmit bini parababy gyango) and a new one: (starring marmit bini parababy spectreman & gyango) plus a bonus photo: (marmit bini parababy gyango vs hoover dam) i'm starting to see a pattern here...
OK, so this might not officially be Marmit. If I remember correctly it is by Sovbi Life (?), which was a smaller/affiliated company of Marmit, and was a festival exclusive sometime around 2003. With all the talk of the new M1 Ballunga just thought I'd share. It is glow and is hanging by fishing line from the light in my geek room.
Great figure, I've never come across one for sale though unfortunately. I've said it before, but I still love how you display flyers!
Thanks Yuck!!! Yeah, I'm tempted to hunt down the 2 Para-Baby Ballungas and hang them next to this one. Really hoping that M1 does a glow version of their new sculpt.
Yeah, I have also been thinking more and more about the Ballunga for a while now. It is indeed by Sofvi life. As all their stuff is, this one is hard to come by, but such a beauty that well pays off. Really love it hanging there, so great. Count me as another hoping for a different paint or vinyl release of the M1.
Sofvi life is same company as Target Earth right? since target earth URL still use name under sofvilife, and Marmit and TE still have collaboration lately.
My sleeping Goji is marked "Marmit", but my sitting/sleeping Goji is marked "Sofvi Life" while both only ever came with Sofvi Life headers as far as I have seen. Those are the only two SL figures I have available to me to check, but am curious about the markings on other SL releases. A little hunting with SL in kana (ソフビ ライフ) I found that different versions of Marmit's flying Hedorah have been released with a Marmit or a SL header. In my mind, Sofvi Life is more like a line within Marmit, where Target Earth would be more far removed, such as Skullheadbutt. But perhaps the people involved in SL went on to form TE?
Interesting stuff. We really should come up with a list of all of Marmit's subsidiaries and spin off's! there's quite a few...
