Not weird, but still neat: (mini) Bullmarks utilized as full-size kaiju props in an amusement park during Leo's fight with Guiro
Uh, well, sometimes you have to go there. Wall Street, 1987. Spoiler How can you not post a Yamakatsu Anguirus displayed on a column half-pedestal in the aftermath of a terrible love scene in an Oliver Stone movie?? Spoiler I can't tell what is standing close to it on the other column. There's no way that is a Bullmark (Ang)... right? Because it sure kind of looks like it. As the scene progresses, you get a hazy glimpse of a Bandai '64 Godzilla on the right, too, near the Brachiosaurus. Darien is cruising Fantaco catalogs for decor. Also: PS: this film does not hold up pps: what does hold up is James Karen with a walking stick, going from ROTLD to this film in the span of two years, and bringing his facial tic/tongue click along with him!
Its not easy to see, but in Guns Akimbo the main character actually has stuff from tons of different people on his shelfs
Yep, there was a solicitation for toys here when the movie was being made: http://skullbrain.org/bb/index.php?threads/want-your-toy-in-a-movie.52974/#post-950514
I went to a ramen spot called Ramen Zetton. Forgot to take pics of the inside, but it had some Ultraman merch.
Sonatine (Takeshi Kitano 1993). A gangster plays with a Tiger Mask 'Great Zebra' ... Nakajima, missing his red boots. Looks like plenty of paint rubs too. In 'played with' condition!
SANCTUARY (2023) Netflix - S01E07 In the posh apartment of a rich douchebag Gold Kaws x Pushead Kaws Companion (looks like one of those small-scale bootlegs?) Astro Boy sofubi ... blurry panning shot of the room.
Years ago at wondefest in Louisville, ky, Phil Tippet was announced as a guest. Unfortunately he couldn't attend due to a new project but he sent a few of his crew who had worked on star wars, ghostbusters and other huge movies. They showed off a mountain of never before seen photos of props, filming and anything else they could dig up. One was a photo of the large Gozer dog being set up as a carnival ride on set as a joke. Now pertaining to this thread in particular, Phil had bought a bullmark missile fire mechagodzilla on a trip on Japan and absolutely adored it. It went with him every where and was on set on many of the films he worked on. One of the photos they had was him filming the deathstar run with mechagodzilla hanging out behind one of the turrets. Who knows how many movies it's hiding in.
You can see the Death Star trench footage with that Mechagodzilla in the Light and Magic documentary on Disney+.
I meant to post this around Christmas, but there's vintage sofubi in the Pee-wee Christmas Special. Not sure what model the Moonlight Mask and the (I'm assuming) Ultraseven.
10 years forward, everyone now asks me if I mean Funko Pops. Times have changed, collecting is much more common, but it’s all fan-stuff.
Weird, or not-so-weird: Shane Embury's stuff/scenes from Welcome to the Napalm Death House… @Alebrije
