To clarify this: MK had two GID Ojo's and a bunch of other toys which were not in their system when they opned up on Saturday morning - people who turned up there early, or in some cases had waited outside before the store opened could not buy them even though they were there. MK put some toys on hold for those people to come back later when they had been added to the inventory system - there was no pre-deposit just treating customers like customers. It seems fair enough if you were there in the morning in person at the store....in fact it would have sucked if they hadn't done that. I hope that makes sense, and you don't feel so bad now.
Thats cool...were you able to get one It was just surprising that the Eaton specifically said right on the ordering page(right next to the buy button) 1 per person. No other item had that "mark"...obviously the Eaton isn't listed anymore so, hard to compare now.
Speaking of connections - this is a well know and well connected "flipper" in Japan. No need to remember it - he will be around for awhile as long as people shell out good money for new releases.
As long as the collectors can't get new releases due to regional and distributional issues its sadly necessary to buy from those guys or stop collecting entirely and their ability to block collectors has gotten immense over the last several months.
I know. I didn't mean to start a debate, just sayin' it kinda rubs me the wrong way. I guess I have this image in my head of coldhearted opportunists that don't care about the toys themselves, just seeing the toys as commodities... similar to what happened to the comics scene years back, people buying them for investment purposes only. But the truth is probably a lot less insidious than that here. Face it, all of us know that if we had a certain toy in hand that we knew was hot the first thing that would enter our minds would be how much we know we could get for it, but whether or not we choose to take advantage of that... In short, WHATEVER. It's all part of the game I guess. Lord knows I've bought stuff off flippers, be it toys, videos, books, you name it. As the creator of Ojo, I'm pretty much guaranteed at least one of each colorway, so I should probably just shut up. Carry on everyone.
flippers suck, unless they sell at retail to me.... i see this gid version slipping away from me.....
Just like a lot of things in this world, there will always be the proverbial bad apple in the bunch. The only way to attempt to cut down on this is to boycott the flippers. Sure it is hard, but it is also a discipline. Short of this, anything else is simply perpetuating that which already exists.
Its really cool imo to know the artist cares so I hope Gaira-Like doesn't shut up at all. I've had to buy a lot of stuff from davidborn (who's real name sounds like he's Japanese). Generally I don't have other options, if I'm buying it from him its because there's no other source that will hook me up. Every once in awhile he'll do a sweetheart deal, an Itokin Park one off Nano in a hand drawn box ($115) wtf.
