I walked into TT Saturday and couldn't beleive it when I found this guy still sitting on the shelf, it was their last one. I've been trying to get an Ojo for months now. Sometimes you just get lucky.
i was able to get the rojo off an online site, then a wonderful board member sold me the campfire set. pretty great passed couple weeks!
Am I the only person here who thinks the ojo looks like a western designer vinyl toy? Not trying to cause a flare up or anything, just an opinion.
It's not a "monster" design, so I could see that tendency upon first impression...but you could say that about some of the Itokin stuff too IMHO. The Ojo sculpt has an unmistakable Kiyoka feel to it, spectacular detail and stance, which assuages any hint at a western toy for me. The vinyl is unquestionably Gargamel/ Obitsu produced, VERY high quality. I get more of a western feel from Bwana's new standard Globby, but its produced by the same team as Ojo. Character design is definitely a factor here.... Interesting topic of disucssion.
I do. But that doesn't mean I can't like it. Like I mentioned in a different post, I don't seperate "Western" and "Eastern." It's Crap and Non-Crap. I think Ojo is Non-Crap. Quality vinyl, amazing paint aps, great design and sculpt. Why would where it was designed/made dictate my taste? I think Mummy Boy is also "Western Designer Vinyl Toy" but it's cool and Non-Crap.
