That's ridiculous. I would have directed them to the Grasshut site, so they could pick up a one off painting or drawing by Josh instead of paying idiotic prices for a toy. Probably would have saved a few dollars in the process as well.
I've been looking at a few of those pieces at Grasshut, and wishing I had an extra $200-$300 laying around. Maybe I should just post my green hell RV on ebay so I can buy one
That is definitely all kinds of insanity. I'd had it on my watch list out of idle curiosity and my jaw dropped when I checked it after it ended. I'd thought that the $250 the one before it went for was crazy and this one blew it out of the water. But it always comes down to what it's worth to that individual, I suppose.
Its out of control, I was watching it hoping that it might be reasonable (100 or so) and it took off again.
I still wouldn't buy it for that. If you just wait around, someone here will probably put it up for closer to retail. Maybe even at retail.
good one...takara did that last year with the ultra magnus masterpiece edition and demolished the reseller market overnight...
Yeah way to ruin a reputation in one go. You re-release one thing, then people chime in with another 10 suggestions. It's never been a great idea and it never will be because it would inherently break the trust between S7 and fans. "hmmm...should I get this now or pray there's a re-release in 2 years time".
. . . along with their credibility and the desire to keep buying from a collectors perspective . . . As has been demonstrated by RxH in the current marketplace, even veiled reissues are seen as pretty weak, even more so given the OG Rose has only been in circulation 18 months or so! Blech!
they could just do the same paint app on that nifty clear green they used on the hollis and garuru sculpt, and instead of a reissue you have an anniversary edition and now everyone is happy
What matters more ... subverting the fiipper market, or maintaining collector interest in a popular figure? Those who forget the Damnedron are doomed to repeat it.
Just give it some time...the craze will pass and folks will be selling them here for less than retail.
The first version was just such a classic execution color wise for sculpt/character. I'm not one for re-issues, but a crystalish execution in the original colors would be cool, or even other color heads with the green body. I'm usually not a completest, but my wife actually likes these a lot and is "co-collecting" them with me, and eventually i'll shadow box them for a display and can actually display them in the house (and not my man cave/office).
i'm totally going to burn the shit outta mine and send the charred remains back to josh with thinly veiled allusions to religious fanaticism!
Ah ha just got my r v for 10x the price..hopefully next time I can get some help on here I'm not rich but I can't see why something will stop you from getting what u want. Been looking for the little guy for a while and I love to see that everyone I've came across that has one treasures it. To me it wouldn't matter if it lost all it's value I have no interest in how much it could be worth. Haven't been able to travel do to work but I would love to try and make it out to a show.
