I thought the previous version had a green belt too? Isn't this a side by side? Should have given him rosy cheeks like the glow...which I forgot to post here.
@animator you can actually see the subtle differences in the paint (thanks for posting the pic). The green belt is a slightly lighter shade of green on the new one, and so are the boots.
Rosy cheeks would have been cool. Still, I dig the palette and the grey guts are actually a plus for me if they're blank, because it means you can remove the fists and boots with less stress. But that's a big if. Still no idea if the mecha parts are separate and jointed, or if they're part of the same pull as the arms and legs.
I'm nearly positive the boots/hands come off. Can't remember where I saw that, but I'm pretty sure I did.
The boots and hands definitely do. I'm curious about the mechanical bits underneath, because if not they have the be the same vinyl base as the body. If that's the case you risk scuffing the guts by removing the hands and feet. Which is probably why I haven't seen any photos of the painted versions with the hands and feet removed.
This thread is such a tease. I see new posts and I get my hopes that it will be about fighters... and no dice.
Ah - gotcha. Looking at pics they look to be separate pieces from the flesh parts, but you'll have to get confirmation from brobles.
I hear ya! But I'm just happy SB is doing something worth talking about, even if it's not fighters/suits.
Im 99% sure they're separate pieces. Ive attached a pic with the head turned so you can see the whole thing moves. there's a bit of silver peaking through underneath the clear and you can see there is a visible divide between the two pieces of vinyl. If I understand it correctly, the silver pieces fit together in a traditional manner. The clear pieces are held together by an additional point of pressure at the top. The inner pieces on the hands and feet dont move freely, which i primarily think its because the vinyl is pretty stiff. But i assume if i were to remove the clear parts they would move. Hope this helps!
Pushing against thrift, practicality and general good sense, I entered the last lottery for this guy and got lucky. After spending a week travelling with my family, I came home to a box the size of a child, carrying the first toy of mine that I can actually cradle around the place like an oversized newborn. Finally, vinyl fills the gaping hole in my heart. Of course the first thing I did was (very carefully) pop off an arm and a leg. @brobles, it seems the head joint is part of the inner 'guts' piece, but every other bit of mechanical detail is part of the same mould as the attached limb. I'm actually unclear on whether the flesh or mechanical part is paint, even looking at it up close. Or maybe the guts actually are separate blank pieces, but they're glued in place so I can't tell. Either way, in case the innards are painted, it's worth being careful when removing stuff. Here are the fruits of my folly: Spoiler: More Astro! In case anyone else is feeling brave, you can reattach the boot by pushing it right up to the joint on the leg that holds it in place, then squeezing around the flared top. That will push the internal 'lip' of the boot piece out beyond the joint, at which point you can slide it up and over the joint. Repeat around the boot a few times until it's properly reattached. You can use the same trick a bit on the hand, but that doesn't have a flare on the end, so it's mostly just force. And as always, lots of heat. Enjoy!
Huh. Looking at that last pre-spoiler pic of the arm, it really looks like the forearm (grey) and upper arm (flesh) are separately molded. You'd know better, as you have one and I don't, but based on pics I would have bet that they were separate pieces. At any rate, every time I see pics I regret not entering the lottos...great toy!
Right? It's really odd. I thought they were separate too from photos. As one last check I just heated the arm way up and tried flexing it at the mechanical "joint" area, and the whole section flexes as a single piece. I think the mech parts are just painted grey. But that grey paint has to be tough as bloody nails, since I have 0 damage even with the friction that removing an arm exerts. I'll probably leave one arm off to showcase the sculpt and avoid messing with it further.
Awesome photos Taimur! Glad to see that you got one too. Congrats I just got mine. View this post on Instagram
DAT SCORM THO ...apparently's still available hours later because people don't understand the concept of "The order before that is INVALID and not acceptable. NO exceptions."..??! That's 2019 for ya.
Aaaand I still slept through the entire drop like a dumbass . Despite a heads up and updates from a good toy buddy. Friday nights are action-packed when you have a one year old. You can’t wait to catch up on sleep from the week.
I am not in this game due to lack of funds etc etc (cue sad violin) but i would just like to say, its very heart warming to still see such love for the Mighty Atom. Tezuka is eternal baby!
Excuses shmexcuses. Besides, "that" mail was sent 1 1/2 hours ago... Anyway, I'll trade you 4 ur Funkoz!!
That marble was absolutely goddamn nuts. I couldn't afford another toy this month after going in on the big guy, but that long order window had me opening and closing the page all night very excited to see everyone's photos
