Edit: overall terrible toy, but I do enjoy the skull and inverted cross.

Nah, more so the overall defacing of Christianity. But at least Paul owned up to his betrayal, I suppose.

It's Edam cheese, but now you mention it - it does look like apple.

I respect what Marmit did by creating these toys and recognize their place in toy history, but I don't think that makes them intrinsically good toys. I like some of them, but many had mediocre sculpts and color choices, which were further hampered by spotty QC.

Granted, we may be looking at them with our increasingly-critical 2020 eyes, when these were produced in the late 90s with lower standards for collectible toys. Moreover, they were the first products of Marmit, who was one of the originators of a new area of collecting. So they are what they are: maybe not great toys, but filled with history and nostalgia for many of us.

If we ever have the chance, I'd love to hear what the Marmit founder thinks of the original VP releases.

Ok, so now Skullbrain (that represents the worst of the American, British & Australian collectors) has started a nuclear war... and I believe Marmit was probably one of those things that was meant to be for SALE IN JAPAN ONLY like you find on many things, you should take more notice next time you start criticising everything.

...Next week, we'll be asking Picasso dumb questions like "why is it all wonky?", "how come you can see the brush marks?" and "why is it the wrong color?"

None of your business, the same as none of your business in you no-brainers constantly telling everyone what they can & can't sell, what they can & can't paint, what they can & can't make, what they can & can't say. There's only a few of you here on a rotation acting like you run the Japanese sofubi industry but none of you seem to realise your outnumbered.

Its not a mystery. You're another lurker who obviously hates Skullbrain but can't help coming here. Its funny to me that the Fugly thread rattled your cage and made you comment. Its the dumbest thread on SB, so you're in good company ...

It’s been well known for years that this place is full of just as many opinionated asshole collectors as there are casual nice ones, just about all of which are actually quite friendly and passionate. Plenty of opinions here I don’t agree with, but I’d rather have an actual conversation about it, instead of trying to shit on a whole forum and throw words around like “outnumbered” behind anonymity. If you don’t like what goes on here you’re very well free to not read or participate. I promise you’re not going to scare anyone into changing their minds. They’re Japanese plastic dolls, not gang turf.

“Keep It Blank” vs “It’s Mine, I’ll Do What I Want”

For the record, I’m personally of the mindset that people are free to do whatever the hell they want with the toys, be it blank, painted, whatever. You just don’t get to tell anyone to shut up about whatever you do if they have a different outlook, any more than they can tell you what to do with your shit.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
