2001 A Space Odessy is definately a top 5. thanks donnierobot Silent Running is a '70s sci-fi featuring Bruce Dern. The Earth is polluted and a space station with the Earth's only remaining forests are sent into outer space in the hope that the Earth can be cleaned up and the forests returned. Of course that doesn't happen. The other astronauts on the space station want to jetison the forests into space. Dern kills them and, with the help of 3 robots (named after Donald Duck's nephews), he tries to save the forests. It is a very sad movie...I would recommend it if you have never seen it.
2001 is fxxking overrated! noone into the apes??? chad how did u like omega mans remake by danny boyle???

errrrm... sci-fi can be a tough genre to define Alien Aliens 2001 Terminator Empire Strikes Back Metropolis this is hard. i try not to say this kind of thing but... 5th Element??? GET OFF THE CRACK PEOPLE!
>chad how did u like omega mans remake by danny boyle??? I do not think I have seen this. When was it released? I do think John Carpenter's The Thing is way better than the original '50s version. The original Dune is pretty good. A bit convoluted at times and long but still pretty good.
Not a fan of alot of Carpenter's stuff, but I loved how dark and bleak The Thing was. Thanks for reminding me about Lynch's Dune. I have to watch that again.
Milla JOvovich is actually married to that loser Paul W.S. Anderson now, director of such crapfests as Resident Evil, Mortal Kombat, and Event Horizon. here's my list: 1. Escape From New York 2. The Omega Man 3. Westworld 4. Aliens 5. Planet Of The Apes (did no one else say this?) I don't even know if that's really my top 5, it's just 5 good ones I thought of. how can I pick just 5 favorite movies of any genre? word up on Star Crash! I love that shit!
