Pretty intense stuff. OK, so, I've sadly abandoned any serious creative endeavors since I created these (with the exception of some Lego starships building I was doing a while back), which was quite a few years ago, but it's still awesome that people can enjoy this stuff. Heck, it's cool for me to see them every once in a while. Still love and follow painting and other arts, but I kind of have a thing that's developed that almost entirely saps any motivation I might have to do stuff. Not going to get to into specifics as I don't want to depress everybody, but it's something I'm OK with. I mean, I had a decent run and created some stuff that ended up being a lot more interesting than I would've guessed I'd have been capable of. One thing, though, I'm pretty certain this thread had some comments back when I posted it. I guess they maybe got lost in the forum change? I'm not really sure. Odd that that comments would've been lost, buy not the original post.
I double checked over on the archive and there weren't any comments on the original thread. Perhaps you has some PM exchanges about your work back then? Anyway, seemed a shame to me that these attractive rectangles passed through here without a public reaction, which is why I had to speak up once I discovered them. Here's to hoping that the muse strikes you again!
@toothaction Hmm, interesting. I know that I had posted some of these to the Principia Discordia Forums around that same time and I do remember them being fairly well-received there, so maybe I'm conflating the two in my mind. It looks like I'd only been here a little more than a month when I posted these, so that probably had something to do with it. I know you guys (well, us guys, I guess) can be a little insular as far as newbie activity goes. And thanks again for finding and appreciating this stuff. Also for checking the archive; little things like that can niggle at me.
I absolutely love these paintings of yours, hot damn!!! They're gorgeous yet make me uncomfortable at the same time. I'd almost say it's Lovecraftian. I really hope you get inspired again because these are brilliant.
@hellointerloper Thanks for the very gracious praise! The gorgeous/uncomfortable thing is something I like in art, too (Joe Coleman is a big example), but wasn't something I was necessarily trying for. There's a 'horror vacui' thing going on in most of my paintings and I think that in itself can be a little unsettling sometimes (Coleman's another good example of this, coincidentally). Never got a Lovecraft comparison before! I'm pretty ignorant on the whole mythos, but I know enough to know it's a high complement. As far as getting back at it (and @toothaction had expressed that hope, as well), well 'probably not going to happen' might be the understatement of the half-decade. There's just things that other folks can have and do that I've accepted will never happen for me. It's not a big deal. I mean, presumably some insanely effectual super drug could be developed, but I don't even think their working on it right now. Because they're jerks.
Hah, I hear you. I'm still waiting for a "get up and get motivated" drug to be developed so I can get off my butt and work on stuff. ...of course, depending on who you ask, that drug might already exist. I'll pass though.
OK, so this a little weird, since I posted a couple representational things in the Post Your Art thread, but since this thread exists, I'd just as soon post this one (and any others that might turn up) alongside the other similarly-styled ones. Nobody really seemed to freak about the thread being here. @ultrakaiju did link to the other thread, but not in a way that indicated he thought this one should go, I'm sure I didn't know about the other thread when I made this one, since it's a little hidden, and this thread's existence is in no way meant to suggest that I think this stuff deserves any more attention than all of the other AMAZING stuff that gets posted in Show Your Art. If any one objects, just let me know. Unfortunately, you can't really take a closer look at this one because bad camera, but you kinda get the idea.
OK, I kind of hate this, since there are so many artists better than myself here, but it's made, so no offense to anyone. I found some more old paintings,and there's some some more to come. This next one was actually in a little gallery show, called it "Towards The Edification Of Bahamut", just to give it a title. Bahamut was from Final Fantasy 7: This one wasn't too successful. I kept rotating it and now I don't know which way it goes:

I remember being quite impressed when you posted the first group. Thanks for posting with more. The Bahamut painting blows me away. You say these are old paintings. Hope you will allow yourself to get back to it.
@Biff - Nah, not gonna happen. These are like... ten, ten+ years old. And I'm pretty OK with it. And back when I was doing these, nobody was actually seeing them. The guy who got me painting was always around to check stuff out, but that was almost it. So, it's cool people are seeing them now and liking some of them. Funny you mention the Bahamut one, that's, like, the first thing I did that I thought came out decent. I'd put a lot more hours in when I did some of the others. And I spent a lot more time on most of 'em, too.. But I do get it, it looks pretty dynamic compared to the other stuff. I appreciate your words, man, thanks for having a look
