hey kirkland, you know i don't usually get involved in anyone's personal lives, but what are you doing in cheap tenderloin hotels?
Ha, every time I get ready to watch it I go "meh, what's Alton Brown doing on TV?" and head over to Food Network. Anakin vs. Mace agian, I gotta see it, I just.....don't.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH..... I just booked my ticket and room -- HEEHEE!!!! I can't possibly express my excitedness... I've literally wanted to go to Tokyo for like 20 years, since I was about 10. And this actually pushed me over the edge. I had been thinking of a Tokyo fall trip for a while, but had been kind of down on the idea recently... Until I saw this. All I can say is... THANK YOU VISA!!!! hahahahah.... Oh... my... god... OK, sorry, I'll control myself now....
Oh come on... Senior year is the most fun year... go on the trip and have a 2nd Senior year... Double the fun!
Damn this is way to close to other things for me but for SURE I will be in next year and I have no problem rooming with people.
I'm waiting for the VIP Tour invitation. The tour starts on the 24th and they hit every site one day before the regular tour.
Travelocity has some pretty freaking decent deals... I only got a single, but I got a round trip ticket from Baltimore and 12 nights in Shinjuku for $2600. Yeah, ok, not free, but not too bad either. Thank goodness the US dollar has held up OK against the yen...
What airline? direct flight? Hows that pricing break down? I dunno, seems like you could do a bit better...but I guess a package deal does make things much easier.
for a single that's a great deal. most of the time there is an added cost for travelling solo. most of the advance purchase flights that i noticed a few months ago were around $1200 r/t from Boston. I'm happy we had frequent flier miles to cover the trip, and only one stop in chicago both directions. the dollar is decent right now against the yen too so you guys going now will have fairly decent exchange rates. and an edit..Japan Airlines shows flights during that time frame from New york, Chicago, and Boston for around $1300-$1400 r/t.
This is what I get for never checking Store Pit! As long as you guys don't mind locals hanging around I'm WAY IN. I'd offer to put someone up for the time they're here, but about the only accommodation I could offer is my bathtub (and my wife probably wouldn't be too happy when she went to take a shower).
Just personal preference but ANA >>> JAL I've been a JAL customer since I was 2yrs old...dropped em like a bad habit ~4yrs ago after screw up after screwup and closecall after another. Their level of reliability has taken a nose dive the last ~10yrs to the point of worry. And as I was saying before about the package deal...with flight prices at ~1400...There are a decent amount of hotels at better rates than ~$100 a night even in Tokyo.
I think we were at about $1600 per person in March for flight and 9 days\7 nights hotel stay, earlier this year. It was United and a pretty blah hotel in Ikebukuro. In the past, we've paid a little more for the Keio Plaza in Shinjuku, if you like amenities. JALPAK has served us well, though.
