Beginning a thread for Japanese artist Aruimimakezu. Their history so far involves a few different mediums and for that I appreciate them.

    Butsuzou:

    Birth of Kenka Bozu set:

    The Inner Parts:

    Kitaro (from Gegegege no Kitaro):

    Splatter House (keshi):

    Ushioni (resin garage kit):

I’m inclined to agree. It might be at the top of their ouevre for me as the Butsuzou whilst cool, has a really Gaijin-does-cool-Japan-inspired-neokaiju-vinyl feel to it even though the artist themself is Japanese. Kitaro’s ‘holes’ puncturing his body definitely make him look creepier than normal.

The Inner Parts (hope that’s the correct name) has some pretty awesome packaging that makes the toy itself much cooler. The only issue around this is I’m sure most collectors don’t have space for boxes in their collection rooms.

(Pic taken from anarogue’s IG, sales long over)

I’m unsure if the movie itself is legitimate or just graphic design work.

^ It's pure fabrication, but what an amazingly thorough job he did of creating plausible 'evidence' of the film's provenance. My favorite bits of the feed by far.

That’s fantastic. I’m an avid horror fan having watched over a 1000 titles and found it strange I wasn’t aware of the film. The mind entertained the idea of fabrication but it also found it plausible that it was created for a lost obscure Italian or American video nasty which was recently rereleased on an underground Japanese boutique label. That might be my neurosis or a testament to the convincing job Aruimimakezu pulled off.

Glad to see Toshi getting the recognition he deserves. He’s an unbelievable artist. Lucky to have a few of his toys in my collection.

My introduction to Aruimimakezu were these amazing, gruesome-ass resin namakubi he made a couple years ago:
