wow that really is expensive. as mentioned before, I don't get the armor, but I can see the interest being there.
I kind of like the contrast in that the Blob seemed like it would probably asphyxiate something but with the armor its got sharp edges and blades. Plus Kaji san focused on the eye stitches which almost always get overlooked, the paint's what sold me.
Remember this guy? http://www.skullbrain.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=26650 It's a collaboration with him.
I love that guy's work. I wish I would have got off my ass and made it to his zakka show to grab a figure.
WHAAAAAAAAA!!! boy am i happy that japan made it to the round of 16. now to figure out how to snag one
I hope they can continue until the "demi-final", and be in the last 4 teams of the cup ! it's a great team.
just wanted to let folks know that there is about to be one less sdcc 09 dokugan. a month or so back i posted in another thread that i had fucked up a toy, well this is what happened so i had a bunch of dokus in a box and this one was at the bottom of the pile, i took it out and the right wing was like folded in. upon inspection the paint started to just flake off. i left it out over night under a lamp to get the wing back in shape and when i got up is was almost back to normal but this seemed to cause hairline cracking. more areas of the paint seem to be bubbling and if i so much as touch the area, more just flakes off like its bad paint. so now its sitting with this one mangeled wing and i figure, what the hell, i'll just stripe the entire thing. the base is a beautiful clear purple, which is one of my favs, so i figure what the hell. its already sorted fucked up might as well turn it into a nice unpainted.
That's a tragedy but I like your zen approach to it. I'd like to see pics of the stripped version when you're done. I've always been curious if the vinyl underneath a stripped toy would retain its gloss or take on a dull haze. btw, instead of leaving your dokugans in a box sell them to me.
The horde is growing. Not pictured are a few murder blobs and a few dokugans Now please, everyone stop selling awesome toys.
done... i have to say, i've never had to do so much work to strip a figure ever. the head took longer the the wings and body combined. overall i'm very happy with it and love the color. gonna have to find a better eye then the old blue on it had. will take some better pictures of it tomorrow
just acetone and lot of soft sponges so as not to cloud or scar the vinyl. probably the last one i will do for a long while. here are the pics i promised.
wow, eric,, that looks amazing. you must have had a hell of a time getting all the paint off so cleanly, but it seems that all that hard work has definitely paid off!
