damn Lash that's real nice! how long did your inside paint take to dry? I'm doing a similar inside paint job, and it's been like a week
Beautiful work Rich. The eye stitches are neglected far too often in the production stuff (no idea why).
Thanks buddy , and thank you to everyone else also I don't know why they are neglected, maybe time and paint masks ? The clear vinyl on these are great, and I love the way it looks when painted inside and out. It makes the vinyl look like jelly. Come one I know I wasn't the only person here who painted one up. I know there is gonna be some amazing stuff be shown here soon. Its not to often that a Blobpus contest pops up.
Jesus LASH - not only f*cking amazing, but you busted that out in like 2 days!?! Please email all photo submissions to : info@lulubelltoys.com
my sentiments exactly. and the use of "f*cking" is totally necessary in this statement, it would be unjust without that added exclamation.... way to go LASH, you skills are unmatched!
I already knew what I was doing before it even got here, I just had to lay it down Pics will be on the way , Thanks Amy !
That is great Lash. A bit of a Satan King vibe going on. One thing I wonder when looking at these threads, with pictures of photos or customs for exhibitions, is why people want to show them off before the exhibition starts? But yes, That is a fucking AMAZING custom!
I think I'm just about done with mine, but I'm not sure how happy I am with it. The Blob sculpt is pretty interesting, but I think my detail-oriented brain has a tough time working around the 'soft squishy' sculpt... there's some really cool stuff going on, but amorphous areas like the mouth and the way the tentacles sort of blend into the body bug me. I want more definition between the belly and those couple of tentacles, but any kind of sharp outline is going to be messy and look terrible. I tried some lighting effects as well, which I'm happy with in one area, and less happy in the other. Pics in a day or three.
Really great job Ben! It's interesting to see the different approaches people take with this figure. Blobpus was one of the first figures I collected. I haven't picked one up in a while but this custom show is certainly drawing my attention to this figure once again. Looking forward to seeing what other people bring.
There are two sets of customs for the show. One group will be the clear Blobs/DXes that were on Lulubell, the other group will be... another figure. All the guys on the flier got those, if I'm not mistaken.
Here are some pictures of my Blobpus custom for the contest. I poured red acrylic craft paint on the inside, then did some sprays in black and silver w/ spray paint, then added the details w/ paint markers. This was my first kaiju style paint job, and I'm pretty happy w/ it. http://www.flickr.com/photos/bleedinged ... 1943262979
