my #1 burger joint was on this list and I don't think anyone has tried it yet. Lark Creek Inn. Skip Joe's Cable Car and Chez Maman. both mediocre imo. had InNOut today. still one of my favorites. Put it in a fancy restaurant, charge $15 and people would still go nuts.
If you guys are ever in NY, definitely try out Shake Shack. It is fucking delicious! Maybe it was my first meal after an overnight flight or maybe it was NY, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. After that first meal, I wanted to go back every day just to grab a burger. Stopped by the one in Madison Square Park first. Here's the menu. Slightly better res HERE. Ordered the classic ShackBurger w/ some fries. Let's see, what can I say about it. I love the bun they used, it was like Hawaiian bread. All soft and sticky and it formed a nice pocket for all the other deliciousness they stuff in it. Meat was juicy and cooked to perfection, everything else was fresh. I dig the thicker cut fries fried to perfection. It was good enough that I HAD to go back during my stay in NY. Went the second time and this time I ordered two Singles since one wasn't enough before. I barely managed to finish that, might have to just do a Double next time. Aaron & Shannon both got Doubles and I think that was manageable. This time around I also got a shake, go figure w/ their name. Their Fair Shake (vanilla w/ coffee) is highly recommended.
Hats off to TBS for suggesting trying Umami Burger yesterday. Went in w/o any expectations as I had no idea about this place. I guess it's some off-shoot of the one in LA? Walking in you're greeted w/ a pristine white samurai sword by the front door. I guess it's the weapon of choice by the old tater tots grandma. More on that later. Off the bat, second on the list is their Manly Burger. That was enough for me to just get it for the name. The Manly Burger has beer-cheddar cheese, smoked salt-onion strings, bacon lardons, ketchup and mustard. BACON LARDONS!!! Even w/ that I ended up going w/ something else. Here's a shot of TBS's Manly Burger. Looks delicious, he didn't share so I had no idea how it tasted. I'm guessing it was good since it was gone w/ the quickness. I passed up the MB since on the menu there was Bacon-Wrapped Scallop Burger: scallop patty topped w/ crispy pork belly, sweet chili sauce and yuzu-garlic aioli. For me, crispy pork belly > bacon lardons in this case. So how was this burger? Technically not really one it was fucking delicious. There were two fatty slices of pork belly on top of a patty made from juicy scallops. It was freaking melt in your mouth fantastic. And no pic here (think TBS posted one), but our server also recommended the Greenbird, first on the menu: Diestel Farms turkey, crushed avocado, green cheese, butter lettuce, sprouts, green goddess. At first taste, didn't seem like it was turkey but more like lamb. It was quite gamey and easily passable for me in the future. Other pass, their Tempura Onion Rings. Sweet Potato Fries were only ok. I'd definitely recommend getting the House Pickles. At first I thought it'd be just some normal house pickled cucumbers instead of a whole plate of pickled vegetables. And back to the tater tots grandma, apparently it's not on their menu but they have Cheesy Tater Tots. Saw some dude enjoying what seemed like a bowl of tots and it was! At first I thought it might have been their Smushed Potatoes on the menu, but it's not. We asked our server and she said that they don't put the tots on the menu because it's very limited and runs out quick. Some grandma rolls them by hand in their underground dungeon. Poor grandma. Bottom line: Recommended to try. Prices are out there though. But there's plenty of other burgers on the menu that I would try along w/ the tots. Forgot to add this, somehow my paper placemat ended up like this. Totally how I felt after the meal.
Don't even get me started. I talked about this place in front of Joe(with him as well) no less than 4 times.
went to grill'em all when i went to see my family two weeks ago. the burgers were really good. i had the blue cheer. wife had the hannah montana. friend had the waste 'em all. tater tots were cheesy and tasty. returned to 4505 meats last weekend... it confirmed it. it is my favorite burger, so far.
Went to Burger Urge on Haight this week. They gave me a free burger for feedback. It wasn't bad. The bun was a little to toasted on top(even though it was soft on the inside) so that was weird. They also didn't let it rest enough after cooked so it got real messy. Over all a pretty good burger for Haight st. I'll take it over the magnolia burger. I had some good garlic fries as well. Jesus, try it out and let me know what you think.
The holiday burger at Umami right now is fucking delicious. Turkey w/ cranberry chutney, giblet gravy topped with fried sage. Finally got the tots and they rule along with the pickle platter. I think I went there twice this week already.
tried Five Guys Burgers in San Jose today. I guess Michelle Obama's favorite chain out of Virginia? PRetty frickin good. It's a big burger. A bit messy as you can see. not something you can really take out as it would get too soggy. It's a real burger. Fries were good and plentiful too. highly recommended. Food Wars:Food Truck edition Baby's Burgers vs Grill'em All... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGdi41VC ... re=related Honestly any guys from the area want to give some insight on who has the better burger?
never had baby badass burgers... but grill 'em all was pretty damn good. edit: just saw the video. that all american girl burger looks awesome. i need to try it when i go back down to l.a. i think grill 'em all shot themselves in the foot choosing a burger with gravy and honey... i'm sure it's not to everyones liking. but of course, it's just an entertainment show
I wish I could get In-N-Out fries, well, with a Five Guys Burger. I keep missing Grill Em All when I'm in LA. They were at the Melvins gig in Jan. but I had already eaten. I'm a big fan of the Los Altos Grill / Rutherford Grill burger.
yes! that was one good burger. i need to go back. my wife ordered it, so i only got a few bites (plus she orders her burgers well done). i remember the relish being out if this world amazing. i wish there wasn't always a long wait to get in.
