As Roger mentioned, we’ve chatted about this on the fugly thread on more than one occasion and the swastika, reversed or not, tends to be an automatic trip to the fugly thread.

In my opinion, just like adding a penis, vagina and or the maggot infested rotting corpse trope, it feels like an attempt at being edgy and screaming ‘this is not a toy!’ They feel like the sort of items people who are embarrassed to buy toys would purchase, in an attempt to hide the fact they collect an art form based on a child’s plaything.

Even if there is no racism intended, most (all) of the toys that fall into this camp feel hateful and that is enough for me to want to give them a wide berth.

Here's an interesting recent one. When i first saw it i thought ... is that a Hitler 'homage' on the old Woodland Doll / Charmy-chan??

But NO. Its a OHIGE no PON / Charmy-chan .... a character called 'Beard Pon'.

I would guess most people in the west would assume its (at best) a Charlie Chaplin tribute, and (at worst) a Hitler tribute. I wonder how many Japanese toy collectors would make that connection?

Literally thought this was along the lines you mentioned when I saw it. I've never been sensitive to this sort of thing in the past, I'm not sure what's changed. I guess this is growing up..

Now the song is stuck in my head, THANKS.

You, know, same here. I didn’t care about this so much when I was younger. If I had to guess why, it’s probably because I’m growing older. The older I get, the more people around me die. Once I started realizing the sheer enormity of death, I learned to respect life a lot more. If one death can devastate so many people who loved them, I cannot even imagine the pain of war.
It’s one thing to make a toy that’s a killing machine, which is purely fantasy. It’s completely different to glorify the very real deaths of millions of people. It’s a severely asshole move.

It's annoying, when questioned about it, a lot of these people try to act all innocent using some bullshit reasoning to defend their actions.

They know exactly what they're doing, and they can go fuck themselves.

You can explain away the Buddhist 'Swastika' as an ancient symbol, but the SS bolts are a symbol of white supremacy, there's no explaining that away.

i have been seeing a few dodgy looking double lightning bolts show up on some Real head toys and what looked like a Deaths head on some merch. Really don't know what to make of it and reluctant to bring it up as he seems to be so highly respected.
Am I just mistaken as to my interpretations ?

I've been baffled by the Nazi iconography since I got into sofubi.

I commented on a post asking why SSS was on a Senjin Shonen toy header card and the dude DM'd me all shitty trying to explain it away as "art".

Personally don't give a shit if it's someones first toy or the most respected maker. Fuck em!

Any examples? I've seen a singular basic lightning bolt branded on a couple of different heads but nothing that looks like the Schutzstaffel symbol.

Thanks for the images. Definitely looks questionable but not as blatant as the Senjin Shonen header noted above.

Personally, I’d at least commend any one of these fuckin’ bozos if they’d just be upfront and own what they’re doin’ instead of dancin’ around it like chump ass cowards. If you’re not willing to provide context or interpretation to the choices you make when it comes to this shit then you’re just a controversy chasin’ little b_tch in my eyes. And the amount of collectors that drop heart eyes over Hitler toys just paints a lot of targets for me. I don’t give a shit how cool somethin’ looks. You don’t subside suffering, racism and genocide for the sake of aesthetics and being an edge lord twat.

It's a real shame there are too many people buying and encouraging this stuff for it to just go away.

Where does this line get drawn? What about if the maker or the maker has friends in their personal life who tend to wear nazi imagery? IMG_1519.jpeg IMG_1520.jpeg IMG_1521.jpeg

Remind me who these people are? I’ve been off of Instagram/out of the game for ages.
    Either way, lame.
