The change I would really like is a separation of the sale, want and trade threads (i.e., the original division). I'm tired of checking the sale section every time someone updates their want list.
I don't know why that would imply people need to go elsewhere to talk about other toy brands. I didn't get that impression at all, I think it might be so that people look at EVERYTHING all at once. then again every time I "moderate" I get yelled at and called names so what do I know...
Man "search" is gonna get so much use now. Actually, no, it won't. There'll just be a lot more "What's this?" "What's that?" "When did this come out?" type threads. Can you guys change the search options so if I have something with like 3 or 4 letters it will search for it? It used to do that I think, like I used to be able to type in "RxH" and get stuff (just an example) now I get "No suitable matches were found." It's kind of a pain sometimes. No big deal, I just love my search options open. I hated having to jump into Japan Toys just to jump into another section so I don't mind the clutter this will create.
It honestly never crossed my mind, I thought it was just some weird OCD choice made to "clean things up" though IMO it'd make it sloppier. Again I don't care what they do, as long as nothing's erased I'll find what I want to find.
Oh yeah . . . I like everything just where it is, so I can avoid the stuff that stuff that makes my eyes itch!
When we made separate forums for RxH, SB and Gargamel they accounted for a most of the chatter on Skullbrain. Now they count for a lot less. There are new brands that get as much attention as any of these three. So we had to decided to make a bunch of new sub forums or just wrap them all into one.
Why not just add subforums for Elegab, Zollmen, and Shikaruna? (Yeah, I know, 4 or 5 more could easily be added.) The trend to Mega Threads for single companies (which is what the above three have mostly been forced into since they don't have their own sections) discourages interesting new avenues of discussion. SB and other "older" companies may not be as hot as they once were, but look at all the interesting side discussions and threads that have been generated in each of those subforums (within the last month even). And that's facilitated by their having separate sections - a virtual "home" basically. If you can have 5 distinct subsections on the boards for people located in Chicago, the Bay Area, etc, then what's wrong with 5, 6, or 7 distinct subsections for the toys which form the core of so many people's collections? expansion > contraction
Will this change happen no matter what, or are these arguments possibly going to make Super7 change its mind ?
How about we take all of the forum sections out and just make it a post free for all? That would work for me.
YES! Totally run-on too, no punctuation or names of who posted, just a big wall of text. Like the worst chat room ever!
Sorry we need fewer forums not more. I will probably fold the local sections into an events forum next year. We are still considering what to do. There just isn't enough news from Gargamel, RxH and SB to warrant individual forums. In total there are only about 2 pages of threads per month. I actually think it is better for these companies to have there news in the mix with everyone else. I assume lots of people skip their forums altogether now. Having separate forums for each toy company is a bad idea. People tend to derive conspiracy theories about every change we make on SB (read this thread for evidence). Having to decided which company gets a forum and which doesn't would just make this worse. This should help take some of the "perceived" politics out of it going forward.
as a frequent browser.... it really doesn't matter. ever since i discovered the "View new posts" button, I just use that
the search function is your friend. aside from smaller searches, which I will bring up elsewhere as I feel it's a good topic of discussion
