Awesome tv series. Love every minute of it.
Love seeing the goodies customers bring to sell. 8)

It was good, but did anyone else think that it looked like Jason Mewes was missing all his top teeth when his mouth was closed?

As someone who has collected comics for over 45 years, I find the show boring. It's like sitting at a comic store for an hour.
What do you people see in it?

i just feel like the whole thing is kinda stagnant and doesnt really make the idea of reading comics appealing to new viewers

I watched 5 minutes. There is no way that guy with those old AFA rated comics, and an original Batman sketch didn't know what he had. It feels like Kevin Smith's friends bring in all this super-rare comic stuff they have and they make a show based around that and a podcast.

That and I can't really look at anyone wearing Jorts in the year 2012.

It would be cool if the show went around to different conventions around the country. I mean even the small shitty one's at airport hotels in Nebraska. In fact, a whole series just on "nerd" conventions might be cool. Star Trek cons, Furries (shut up you know you wanna see it!), Anime, etc. THAT would be funny!

ACEN could be a series on it's on own. It could be titled "And the World Did Weep."

Haha yeah for sure. But it's just once a year. That's my idea, there are conventions year round all over the country, all devoted to "nerd" stuff. Some just comic conventions, some are very specific. Some get lame ass guests and some get amazing guests. Clearly SDCC, NYCC etc. could be huge episodes but there are so many others. I find the little ones more interesting, the types who go are so weird and hardcore.

I'd love to love it, but found I couldn't make it more than ten minutes in to either episode without getting bored and annoyed - the contrived "reality" in these type of shows gets to me anyway - I'd rather watch re-runs of America's Most Wanted - and when it's a subject even remotely close to my heart it tends to send me up a tree. Plus, what's with all the "zippy" camera work?

At least Oddities is short. Skippin' it.

I can see Harmond in the store arguing about some very esoteric trivia.

I just watched the first episode on AMC. Yeah being unemployed you have the time  Ehhhhh. Interested in the subject material but not sold on the show. Although I haven't collected comic books since I was a teenager I get what it's about. Some of the people on the show I'd like to put in a headlock though, especially big ol' bearded Bryan. If I were Ming I would have kicked him in the nuts after breaking those plates. Walt is kind of shady with his talk down on pricing. Part con man.

Being from NJ I think I went to that flea market as a kid LOL.

Yeah that too, that talk down shit. No matter what he wants it for less. Off the bat every time. But my question is, when did comic shops become pawn shops ??

The more I think about this show the less I like it. It's just annoying. I like Kevin Smith, but he really has almost nothing to do with the show. I don't even know how these guys are all friends ?

And fucking Jason Mews, that dude is probably the most annoying person on the planet. He looked like a fucking moron playing with toys !

I used to be a huge Kevin Smith fan boy. So I would always go to the Graffiti booth to see what new Kevin Smith merch they would have and Walt would work the booth, him and Steve Dave were at WW Chicago I think, I asked for them to sign one of the Clerks stickers, you would think I was a unicorn or something the way they were looking at me.

Moral of story, Walt's kind of a jerk in real life too.

I'm a fan of the Smodcast with Jay Mewes and Ralph Garmon, and I like the show for what it is. And at least there IS a show like this. Its entertaining, though boring at sometimes, or forced, but neat.

Yeah, what the hell is wrong with his face? He's not aging well is he . . . looks like he's got minor brain damage or something. I thought he came across as a bit of a twat.

The two episodes so far were OK but it's definitely heavily edited and doesn't really represent reality very much. The picking on Ming Chen thing is annoying too - its no fun when the guy being picked on has absolutely no come-backs whatsoever . . . . he just sits there like a chump with a bemused and mildly embarrassed look on his face.

I really want to like the show but I am afraid to criticize it in fear of kevin smith and jason mewes coming to my house to assault me... or worse, tie me up and force me to watch zack & miri make a porno.

I enjoy the show. I had friends like each of these guys faults and all. Sure some seems forced/scripted, but you've got to make a show that satisfies a wide range of viewers.... hence the pawn shop aspect. I don't have much experience in the comic book world so I can't really nit pick on thier comic knowledge.
You could tear this show apart, but really would you rather watch another show about midgets or jousting?

    Wait
Midget Jousting!!! I would totally watch that!!!

    Anyone watching the new season?

I have to say Kevin Smith crow-barring his daughter into the first episode and simultaneously plugging some new movie he's cast her in was lame.
She, like many teenage girls, has no personality of her own yet . . . it was cringe-inducing to watch.

Unfortunately, Mewes is not very funny or interesting without a script to rely on either . . .

To be honest, i would much prefer the show to be just about the comic shop and less to do with the 'celebrity' guests and other stuff they use to pad out the running time.
At least Bryan can be relied upon for his snarky comments, mr beardy always makes me laugh!

AMC killer all their "reality" shows except talking dead and this, and the only reason this isn't dead yet is because they cancelled HollywoodBabbleOn. I'd say comic book men is on it's last gasp anyways, and will be done by the end if this season. It could have been good, but the show is all about what you mentioned, and low balling offers, it's a crap show.

^^ Yeah, i think the fact 'Toy Hunter' was cancelled helped their ratings too . . . . .
