Now we're talking! Really loving all the Monster Worship releases. Maddie is looking forward to Max Toy Co. We were despairing due to the lack of exciting exclusives but now that awesome anticipatory feeling is slowly coming back and we are looking forward to SDCC!

anyone seen the grody wind ups that DKE will have?

There's a string at the top of the head, you pull it and the mofo shakes his groddy maker.

Gonna have to grab one. Hoping that Luke will have more styles of wind up grodys at the lulubell event.

Those re-animated guys are looking pretty cool. The effect on the guy on the left is really stunning, you can make out decent face (Poe? The Monster?) on his torso. A very nice purple on the heads too. I much prefer these 'controlled' takes from luke as opposed to the splatter/drip colourings.

Apparently sculpted by Brendan Monroe and produced in Sofubi at the Fort. 50 each of transparent blue and transparent red.

Monroe should have stuck with wood or at least a form like resin where there wouldn't be seams for pointless articulation. He's not doing his work any favors. It looks cheap.

This year especially has been straight up proof that way too many westerners are jumping on the bandwagon. If this keeps up we'll see a flood of gangster zombie ninjas and big eyed whiny looking kids wearing animal jumpers with X's all over the place sold in overpriced blindboxes that look like spraycans.

i think the thing with the "sofubi bandwagon" is that ricky and luke are two americans doing cool stuff in japan, and there are people in america that have a reference point and a possibility to make toys that arent resin. i think soft vinyl is affordable, and it allows for smaller runs. previously in order to get a toy made youd have to order 10,000 or whatever, then its just crazy.

dont get me wrong, i think this inundation of american new wave is garbage. the handful of american guys here on the forum are making great stuff however.

i dont think the "produced in japan" or "sofubi" labels on this american shit is directed toward "us" per se, its just a label that some people like or choose to use. plus ricky and luke have a steady job it seems, so thats good for them and the people involved with that too. whatever! i dont even know what im talking about anymore.

people are going to make toys that look stupid, and people are still going to buy them.

hey, at least that brendan guy isnt calling his "toy" kaiju.
