Ah, pre-code horror comics, something I quite admire. I will definitely have to check that out. Thanks for sharing Moog!
Saw this delightful Star Wars/Fantastic Four crossover piece by Nick Perk, and thought I would share it. Very nice throwback artwork, and the captions are delightful.
Short story, Katz is a counterfeit version of Maus made for Angoulême this year. You can read the whole debacle here http://www.comicsreporter.com/index.php ... y_on_katz/ and see it's destruction here http://vimeo.com/38618657 It's very frustrating to see this.
This definitely brings up interesting debate over a lot of issues, but whether you agree with Katz or not, isn't that part of the whole point? To resort to such extreme measures is the worst outcome that could be envisioned, and to suffer the destruction of any art like this is indeed sad.
Not to monopolise this thread, but here is another decently humourous gem. Examine the father-son relationship beyond the trilogy [yes, I said trilogy] in Jeffrey Brown's 'Vader and Son.'
Whats funny is i work at a damn comic book store have a disgustingly huge comic book collection and i always forget about this thread! so weird!... ANYWAY not gonna lie but i am actually enjoying Avengers vs. X-men also Reread Teenagers From Mars and still love that book
I just started reading Fear Agent. Everything I love about sci-fi's in there. Also, Prophet (from Issue 21, which is actually an issue 1)
Oh yeah, I just started the Origin of Venom, Spider-man collection. Collects all of the issues and adventures of Spidey and his alien suit, and then into birth of Venom. First time reading any Spiderman comics, and I've always been a fan of the way Venom looks, so I wanted to know how he came to be. But damn, Spiderman talks so damn much! Hahaha! If he's not talking, he's thinking! It's funny, and I kind of like the campiness. Its a bit of a break from the dark Swamp Thing Saga I just finished. My Spider Senses are Tingling!
Anybody into Dark Horse comics? I have TONS of comics to unload... as in every single Aliens, Predators, and Aliens vs Predators for like the first 8 or 9 years they were being printed... as well as a shit ton of "Dark Horse Comics" and "Dark Horse Presents".
Being a Jeff Brown fan eversince Clumsy came out, I really don't understand why he took this job. His rendition of SW is fun but the jokes comes out flat. At least my sons loved it! Thierry Vivien is way more funnier http://www.yodablog.net/ I'm just putting down the latest Tardi. At 65, the man is still going strong! I think a saw a translation of it coming on in Previews
Gotta love Tardi . . . i'm really enjoying the new Fantagraphics editions. I found this french one the other day . . . Casse-pipe a la Nation by The Moog Image Dump, on Flickr
Drawn & Quarterly collection of Brian Ralph's zombie tale - a nice subtle take on the genre . . . great little hardback Daybreak by The Moog Image Dump, on Flickr Daybreak page by The Moog Image Dump, on Flickr
just finished "The Filth" by Grant Morrison. still haven't got my head around it yet. I continue to process... what I do know is that it's beautiful.
if I wasn't going to San Diego, I'd be tempted to go to the grant morrison convention in vegas I've just finished up his run on JLA and x-men. The man has 1,000 ideas a minute.
