Green Lantern is gay now. well I suppose he always was, and just not hiding it anymore. I would have guessed Aquaman :: shrug :: that's not to say there can ONLY be one gay superhero in the DC universe.
i forgot to share the best thing i got during free comic book day: star wars x warhammer 40k sketch by jeffrey brown that's one cross-over i'd actually pay to see/read.
My most recent purchases I'm so glad Fantagraphics are continuing to publish translations of the Tardi stuff . . . League of Extraordinary Gentleman: Century 2009 by The Moog Image Dump, on Flickr New York Mon Amour by The Moog Image Dump, on Flickr
Blacksad - A Silent Hell by The Moog Image Dump, on Flickr Anyone read Blacksad? - Dark Horse have done a great job with the newer hardbacks . . . .
doing the exact same. loving both of them. also read lobster johnson: the iron prometheus, abe sapien: the drowning currently about to read the companion book after catching up to it, then once refreshed and solid on hellboy/bprd characters and happenings i will start with hellboy vol. 9-12, bprd 10-15 also been reading a lot of the top batman graphic novels and some the dc universe stuff. read the newer crisis stuff. loved identity crisis, infinite crisis was good, had some great "holy shit!" moments, final crisis was just too much. didn't like it. waiting on crisis on infinite earths by the way, about 95% of the comics i've read have been from the library!
>_< I miss reading the Mouse Guard! I think the last one i collected was in the middle of Black Axe. The Mice Templar was alright as well.
^^ Have you read this collaboration one . . . its good Mouse Guard - Legends of the Guard by The Moog Image Dump, on Flickr
No, I haven't. >_< I've been out of the comic book loop for a couple of years now. I didn't even know they had a collaboration issue. I guess they let other writers do one-shots because the regular run got constantly delayed. Is that Alan Moore's name I see?!
Nah, i wish it was Moore but its not . . . and yeah, this is just a stop-gap collection before the Black Axe is collected into a hardback
This series is turning out to be great . . . very funny stuff. I love Joe Daly's work . . . . . Dungeon Quest 3 by The Moog Image Dump, on Flickr
A coworker lent me volumes1-5 of Locke and Key that I just finished. Quite a good read. Can't wait to see how Hill and Rodriguez finish up the story line.
i've read the first one, was one of the best things I have read in a long time. I need to pick up this new one soon.
Just finished Brandon Graham's King City. So damn good. Don't really know how to describe it except to say that it is incredibly inventive, fun and super-creative. Highly recommended.
Gotta Love Mouse Guard Currently excited, I mean REALLY excited, about James Stokoe's NEW Godzilla comic dropping this Wednesday! (Godzilla: Half Century War thread here : http://www.skullbrain.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=43014)
^^ That new Godzilla comic looks great . . . The only Godzilla comic i have is this collection by Randy Stradley & Art Adams - i read it a while ago but i remember it was pretty good . . . . Godzilla - Age of Monsters by The Moog Image Dump, on Flickr
i tend to get back into comics right after SDCC every year for a few months. this time i've read: walking dead 1-100: about what i expected ... don't think i'll keep following it invincible 1-93: fairly entertaining ... quality really started to pick up in the second half superman for all seasons 1-4: this was great ... read it planetary 1-26 (plus extras): worth a read, but not a classic starman 1-80 (plus extras): the last major storyline in this run is one of the best i've ever read. crazy good. and i've started reading earth x, which is sort of underwhelming so far. also started reading scalped but i didn't like it.
if you like Sci-Fi, you should give Saga (Brian K. Vaughan) a chance, it's just a few issues in and one of the only things i am reading monthly right now. Agreed, although the critics love it, i read most of it but didn't feel much for it.
^ i second the "saga" recommendation. as for other ongoing series, may i also suggest: - the 6th gun (cullen bunn & brian hurtt) - the manhattan projects (jonathan hickman & nick pitarra) - rachel rising (terry moore) i also picked up the first issue of the new godzilla half century war... kinda liked it! =p
