Vintage Kewpie . . . once again there seems to be very little information online.
(The big eyeballs move about in the sockets . . . very cute)

Any info would be appreciated . . . . name / manufacturer / date etc

Hahaha, now that is plenty creepy. I also have not noticed the 'anatomical correctness' before in other kewpies. Interesting find indeed.

I picked up this guy over the holidays at a tiny shop in the middle of nowhere. I think it is actually 99% creepy, and not cute at all (I can see this inspiring many childhood nightmares), but I just had to grab it. I really wish my camera could do it justice, but it is so hard to photograph the detail on orange vinyl. Anyways, you can really see the seed inspiration for a lot of artists/designers these days.

    ^ i can't figure out if that's a hamster in a wolf's outfit or stout rabbit with a toothache.

^ is that true? finally, some real info! it has no markings other than a generic "tsuburaya prod" sticker, so it's been difficult to try to track down release information. thanks!

and with the help of that useful tidbit, here's a bit more info (about halfway down the page):

Yeah I dig Inukuma, I wish they would do GID versions of their minis. Their mascot version is very cute too. Inu=Dog Kuma=Bear.

^^^^ I love that orange slab of vinyl too.

I think the big black eyes and the scarf around the mum's head adds to the creepiness factor. I like how crude molding can sometimes add to a sculpts charm. Nice score!

All are vinyl squeaky toys; to my recollection all made in Japan.

    Pinnochio made in Italy.

The Moog likes one of my toys! You know you've made it when the Moog likes your toy.

Don't know who it's made by (sorry). Squeaky toys for the most part are boxed up and put away (12 inch Disney's the exception). Photos are several years old.

    Cute vintage cat . . . . probably late 1940's or 1950's.

Made by Tudor Rose / Rosedale Plastics in England.
