Hoping to make this year my first time there!
Check your email, early bird tickets are being offered.
Hoping this thing doesn't get cancelled with the rest of the coronavirus fallout.
I hope not, too. Just a few days ago they announced the exclusive toy and started selling tickets.
i got my flights yesterday so even if it gets cancelled we'll organize some type of sofubi pizza meet up across the street
SOFUBI PIZZA POP UP! I’m in!
^^^ I like there optimism, but think it's probably just a daydream.
We'll see what happens. Right now the mayor's ban on gathering only runs to April 17, but if it's extended to the end of May, I don't see how they will still be able to have the event.
I wonder if they'll move to a virtual convention if this drags on. I know that 99% of FivePoints is hanging out with / meeting like minded folks, but I hope the show goes on one way or another.
Should this be in purple?
A toy convention without toys is just a convention!
That's an interesting idea. Have everyone connect to Twitch or something like that?
Exactly. Have artists call in and give interviews + answer questions.
Maybe have artists ship product directly to Clutter and have them give tours of the pieces, etc.
Maybe toy sales could move to an online store that requires user-specific codes in order to complete the purchase or make an account (to insure only those who bought tickets could buy the toys)? I don't know how much the toy trade has been disrupted, but it seems like USPS & UPS are still running at the moment.
Artist do shows to meet fans and showcase their work. Fans attend to hang with other fans and interact with artists. Once it’s distilled to an online shopping cart experience, why bother?
If anything have it rescheduled to a later date. Five Points isn't there to feed the fiends.
It's for all of us to hang out and have a great time. I've been there every year and its not so much "buy toys" as it is, "hey great to see you! lets shoot the shit, then buy some toys!"
At least for me and the folks I know. It's a good ol' time.
Making it online will just suck and why bother?!- The artists can do that themselves any day of the week.
Five Points is something different. It's a beautiful thing and it must go on even if it's delayed!
The thought of traveling to NY a couple months from now is terrifying..
Canceled! Fack! Rona got em
Can't say I'm surprised. :[
Hoping they can reschedule it for the fall, but looking bad.
2020 is FUBAR!
I’m not surprised. My sister is in NYC, there are ambulance sirens at least every 10 minutes. It’s baaad there.
Im a bit disappointed that they arent offering refunds right of the bat. My pair of tickets was $300. Even if it does happen in 2020, theres no guarantee that others artists and attendees schedules will allow it. Creature bazaar was like we'll just refund everyone in full.
it’s nyc, there’s ambulance sirens every 10 minutes even without corona
They cancelled the date but not refunding?!
