we are having a halloween party at the shop with bands and movies. as for films dolls (love that creepy crappy forgotten gordon flick) dead mans shoes (not horror but sooo fucking scary !) donnie darko return of the living dead. forbidden world.
yes, i work with and know many nurses. most of them are not people you'd want to see in a mini dress. the scrubs are hard enough to look at.
It's the "male condition". We'd most likely get more done and be much more interesting if we had only a seasonal "rut" like other mammals.
PIECES - scared the shit out of me as a kid for some reason basket case - classic the gates of hell (fulci) phantasm - classic hellraiser - classic hard rock zombies i prefer listening to the misfits and samhain for the entire month of october
That's hilarious. When I was a kid our (Christian) church hosted Halloween parties. Besides, pagans celebrate Samhain.
Yeah! When I was a teen, I was at a Halloween party that played Pieces and The House By The Cemetery. Those 2 films freaked me out for weeks. I also really enjoyed Donnie Darko, but none of my friends like it. Patrick Swayze as a pedophile was a funny twist, and Frank the bunny I thought was pretty creepy. I have a copy of Dead Man's Shoes but I haven't watched yet, maybe this weekend.
If anyone here has the Something Weird DVD of Basket Case, check the liner notes. My one claim to fame, such as it is.
Halloween isn't the same without the House of Shock... Good 'ol NOLA, I miss you! I don't miss the humidity though.
Thanks for some great book recommendations ( i think i've seen all the movies listed at least once)...definitly gonna check out dark harvest and camoflauge. one book i would recommend is by someone you would never have thought would be the author of it and it's by joyce carol oates (really!) and it's called zombie i swear the first time i tried to read it it freaked me out so bad i had to throw the book away half way thru. when i finally bought it again and read it all the way though, as soon as i was finished, i found a home for the book. i didn't want it in my house. seriously deranged story. she also wrote another favorite short story or more of a novella in the anthology 999 that is more like her gothic stuff but it's just plain eerie. even knowing her penchant for horror, i never would have thought she had a novel like zombie in her. i just picked up world war z yesterday on someone's recommendation here, looking forward to it, thanks! and the one movie i can not recommend highly enough is the host. this movie may well become my favorite film of all time. it's got everything in a movie you could want and the creature is killer!!
check out the directors first film Memories of murder it is amazing one of the most atmospheric serial killer films ever.....
Really? BASTARD! BASTARD! BASTARD! Here's some I Drink Your Blood (if you want campy violence) Who Can Kill a Child (disturbing)
dude, it's so entertaining. that part with the karate guy that comes out of nowhere and then apologizes because he ate "bad chop suey" classic some great dialogue, awesome ending, Christopher George, etc.
