I really want to start painting with V-Color, but the only thing is where to buy v-color since KT is closed? thanks.
so I WAS looking to upgrade my paints until I read this. Looks like Im gonna need to save up for more than just paints... Big thanks for the info - this has probably saved numerous people tons of time/cash
You can go Monster Kolor instead of VColor. MK is pretty darn good and a bunch of us use it in place of VC. http://monsterkolor.bigcartel.com/products
I've seen Matt Walkers pieces and those look amazing as well. Good advice, I might "dabble" in that arena for a bit
But isn't MK shiny metallic car paint ! Looks fine for those kinds of colors but can't replace Vcolors range, unless i'm mistaken. Also, is it reasonably easy to bring this stuff back from japan in your luggage ?
MK paint is not glossy on its own, or all pearled... you could seal it with something other than the MK Ultra-gloss for different effects.
I just started using MK and have to say that it's pretty much the same as v-color ! you don't have to thin it at all because it comes ready to spray! the silver MK i swear is just like v-color silver! you do have to clear coat your project when done, and the sparkly stuff people are asking about are special ready to spray pearl and flake that you spray over your color work before you clear coat if you're looking for a replacement for v-color then MK is the way to go!
I never had the chance to use v-color but just got started with monster kolor and it works great. i don't even mind the clear coating, it really does bring out the colors, and especially the fx paints like the pearls.
I advise you to spend a little .... a Chinese product is good for learning ... and then the kaiju are beautiful because bad facts
I currently own a syphon-feed Badger single action, and I've gotta tell you, I've soooo begun to wish that I had gone with a gravity feed top-cup. I really need to figure out how double actions work and man up to an Iwata.
It's better to go with a double action though. You have a lot more control with them. And Prometheum you can get an attachment cup that just plugs where your bottle goes on the bottom feed.
Thanks. I actually do have a cup and a bottle, but I just find that the syphon action tends to clog a lot. Especially with acrylics. Anyone here use an Iwata Revolution? I think it's time for an upgrade, and they are supposed to be phenomenally easy to use and maintain.
If you're using acrylic like createx, it's just a gummy paint. It clogs the tip not the inner area unless you're letting it sit without cleaning it or something. The same thing would happen with top feed. Not all paints act like that.
I don't use any acrylics, just Monster & Vcolors, but I swear by my Iwata HP-SBS.... after checking the specs vs. budget, it was the most affordable brush with all the desired "pro" features. If I remember correctly, it has been discontinued so I think you can find an even better deal on one now.
well i placed a order for some monster kolor, got my compressor, and a dual action badger to mess around with, im really excited... wanna slowly build my selection of kolors from monster kolor
i have a Revolution. it's a good airbrush. I use it as a secondary brush to cover larger areas and for glitter. primary is an Iwata HP+C. which allows for greater detail spraying. http://www.iwata-medea.com/index.php/pr ... hp_c_plus/ I checked out Dustin's new rig which is the Iwata CM-C Plus. Next level shit right here http://www.iwata-medea.com/index.php/pr ... cm_c_plus/
Thanks! That CM-C Plus looks like a beast. I ended up getting the Revolution CR and LOVE it. My latest Glyos figures and Argus custom just would not have been possible without it. It's like night and day from my old single action Badger 200.
