That’s definitely Hukkokudo, and not Ggml. But...wow. Special doesn’t even begin to describe that oil slick of a monstrous spill. I certainly hope another one of those pops up again, if not this very one. That is stunning!
Don't believe everything you read in Mandarake titles.. I was hoping you were the guy that nabbed it! I hate black vinyl and I even wanted this baby
I think that Hedoro 3 may be the original test shot that was shown on the Hukkokudo blog back when it was first announced. To my recollection, that color was never used in production. Lots of interesting things popping up recently.
anyone got any idea of how many vinyl colour variations there were of the Smash Face Hedo2 reissue other than the greens and the grey sample? cheers.
*coughcough* http://www.skullbrain.org/bb/index.php?threads/hukkokudo-database.53819/ Officially, only the solid green and clear neon green. As you note, painted samples on grey vinyl have also surfaced recently.
Ah! No, sorry to mislead you. It is indeed a custom. Was trying to be funny and suggest SHB had collaborated with inGen - the bioengineering company from Jurassic Park
Okay, I’m super, super excited about this one. I’ve been searching for this specific Saidon for about a short three years, and this one popped up for just $45!!! I scooped this up as fast as I could. There’s so much texture here, and the upward staring stance makes it that much more believable to me that this was originally a children’s toy. I love this posture. I know this is a Hukkokudo repro, but I believe it’s from a vintage Yonezawa mold? These colors against the yellow vinyl base is damn good. The fiery red - orange and green hued turquoise lend themselves so well!!! As always, the scale is great. Very happy to have this alongside the rest of the pachi repro gang. Spoiler
Well hot damn Robert, talk about a score! You snagged a supreme beauty there. The colours are phenomenal on that example, and I am super glad that you were able to adopt him. The textures on the sculpt are indeed amazing, and it is based off the Yonezawa original (which a lot of this line was). I have been hunting that guy for a long time too, so to see one pop up for such a great price makes me thrilled - and I know it went to a stand up dude who would appreciate it. It is funny how some of these have come for sale at such bargains, especially in light of what has been happening with the TE stuff. But hey, you've benefited from it, and it is just superb. Stand up work on sleuthing out this treasure. Thanks for sharing the gorgeous photos of this amazing toy.
@zindabad Thanks, Taimur! Couldn’t believe the price when I came across the listing. And I got an invoice that night, and shipping notice the next day! I did, however, unknowingly place the order a day before golden week. So it did sit while time was takin’ off in Japan! So, so worth the wait. @ultrakaiju Thanks so much, Steve! Know now that you’ve been hunting for a bit yourself,‘I’m gonna have to keep my eyes peeled! I saw a maroon/brown version go up once or twice, but it was $80(still not bad, just not $45), and I wasn’t too keen on the colors. Even still, this is a must have for reproduction, or even vintage collectors. It is quite the contrast seeing these repros come up at such bargains, while TE rakes in such a considerable high dollar amount, considering they essentially come from the same source! But I can’t be mad at it! I appreciate the kind words on the shots, as well. I couldn’t wait to get it in front of the camera as soon as I tore open the box!
What a great expression. It passed me by at first aqnd then there it was just a little mona Lisa smile
@ungawa222 Thanks, Mike! The arms are definitely a bit goofy, but it adds to the overall playfulness. The hands also have a roundabout shape to ‘em, and it could actually hold a smaller object, or even grip a thin ledge!
I still love the connection between Yonezawa's Saidon and Gamegon, and the Target Earth Gamerudon. One of my favorite patchi mash-ups to come out of the early years. @xSuicide Squadx Do you know whether you picked up the original T-E release, or the (much) later reissue by Medicom/T-E?
@akum6n The Yonezawa Gamegon is another one I’d like to track down! I think I’ve only seen reproductions of red vinyl, one version having black sprays, the other having blue. And I do own my favorite Gamerudon, as well! As far as which version I own, being that I admittedly had no idea there was a discernible difference, I wish I could tell you! The only indicator I think I can provide is that there are no stamps on either left or right foot!
GOOD LORDT, I know live auctions are frowned upon, but these have been relisted and I really feel like I gotta get ‘em up before they disappear. @ultrakaiju and @akum6n, I feel like you gents would especially appreciate these, as would Chris!!!
Oh totally, Robert those are amazing!! You can exactly imagine these space kaiju stepping right out of the b-movie on screen in those B&W interpretations. They are incredible. Even if I can't step in to bid on these auctions, thanks for sharing such delights here, my toy world is made better just knowing that these are out there.
Trick is to re-host 'em! If just using the Y!JP URL,* odds are they go away here, too, none too long after the gates close on the listing. The Imgur app and your HDD: Heroes of the message board! Word. ^ From the long lasting Syndrome of Beautification, forever in our midst. * Or just about any site's hot-link-ables.
@toothaction Good call, David, thank you! I didn’t even think about the images going stale once the listings end or are removed. And I’m definitely familiar with Chris’s photo of the Keratosaurus pair! Wonderful shot, and in general great shots of his overall passion for the toy line. One I hope to recreate as an homage to him at some point. His photos really elevated my desire to learn more, and especially collect Hukkokudo.
