Why don't you stop all the baiting, toydouche. No one said anything negative here until you showed up with your "fuck the haters" tough guy act. Besides, I've met you in person...you ain't foolin' me. Just because you never have an original thought in your skull, and lash paints better than you ever will, doesn't mean you should turn his thread into one of your custom bullshit rants.
Never said I was a tough guy. and I agree Rich paints better than I ever will. and next time we meet in person you can try saying this shit to my face.
that's pure genius! I love the spots. Looks like he has some sort of growing infection.... something comic booky about him, fucking great!
Kirkland is referring to the people that don't like it when guys like LASH, Kirkland, PK, or anyone that paints over production figures that are not meant to be painted. He already stated that. Haters = anti-custom crowd....and that's it. If you read anything else into that statement, then it is on you and not on Kirkland. After all, the only thing that painters do is slop paint on figures. Fuck the haters, indeed. It is great to see a figure painted with just 2 colors. It does take a lot to paint with a minimal number of colors and it is great to see people taking a stab at it. Pretty awesome, Rich...now let's see that Bigaroid
Come on guys don't get my thread locked, if you argument is serous ( and I think its just a joke) please take to PM land. And thanks for all the love guys, I've been back to painting almost everyday, I'm getting back on track and into a pretty good groove
HMS I'm no photoshop wizard, I just usually use it to do some color corrections. Do the flares look that bad ?? I thought they looked pretty cool
Bert you aren't kidding, being just black and white it was tough !!!! To keep each color its color and not gray and muddy was a challenge in a half
Thanks for the input guys, I will remove the flare. I've never done it before and I suppose there was a reason why
The piece is extremely well done and the paint looks awesome. If anything the flare looks cool but is distracting and unnecessary. I keep coming back to sneak a peak. Very well done.
So many customs just become the same figure with different colours - to me anyways. Regardless of whether they look cool they're just another custom. That said, every once in a while the choices made in terms of colour, application, technique and/or relation to another figure seem to work in such a way as to create something truly new. This looks great Lash.
Wow plover those are some nice words. I wish I could take my time and do more like this, but this took some time and very special care. This is what I try to explain to people who commission me. But more over people what it yesterday and thats cool, but when I have no time limit and can work on it when I really want to I can relax and put my all into the little bursts that I do. And with all my ideas I need to keep pushing forward. Some come out and make me change my thought process and some are more super clean work studies. Many think customs are a quick splat of paint, and this is true for some. But to me its more and I treat them like I would a canvas. I want to be able to look back on all my customs and see a larger picture and make each more than just a paint app. I hope to someday have my own figure and all these customs are the preparation for then. I don't want to be another whore in it for quick money. I want to know how to paint a toy to my best possible ability. Mori is my inspiration and someday I hope to follow in his mold.
With just 2 colors you really managed to bring out the best in the sculpt. It's so refreshing to see an original idea. Never mind the haters, fuck the biters. Now, put down that airbrush and play some COD4!!!
And it shows. You asked me before why I only comment on PK's customs, although that's untrue and I have made comments on other peoples work(even some nice ones!), I think Tim/Plover sums it up perfectly for me. A custom is a custom, this is special and should be appreciated.
