The first hour, the system was completely jammed... so people have only been able to get in for the past hour anyway.
My Fiancee is getting our hotel right now. She was trying to log on all morning and by the time she actually got on only the 5, 6 and 7 mile away ones were still up. I'm just glad we are going!!!!
got a new hotel room. Holiday Inn on the Bay. 1.5 mile away. not quite walking, but closer.... Who is coming down for Preview Night on Wednesday??
looks like i will be stayin at the 5 mile away hotel. urg. i will be there from wed - sun. so yes preview night!
Parking at the convention center is pretty reasonable... and that parking structure to the side of it is pretty huge.
Danielle and I are staying 7 miles away, but a trolley swings by our hotel so I'll just hop on it and go over to the convention center. We are going to get to SD on Wednesday night so I'll head to preview night. Do you guys want to do a skullbrain trade fest at comic con? We could all do it on Wednesday if enough people will be there and there isn't any special releases. There isn't on preview night, right?
Travelling down Monday and chilling out for a couple of days beforehand . . . Preview night's a definite! What area? . . .
Best Western Yacht Harbor Hotel 5005 N Harbor Drive San Diego , California i think a couple others might be there as well, toybot sold out and went closer.
Just so you guys know, preview night last year was a MADHOUSE... it's supposed to be a light traffic night to let people get around and see stuff, but it was as busy as a saturday afternoon last year. Wall to wall people. If you're gonna do any trading, you might want to do it away from the convention center... just for the safety of your stuff.
S7 should rent out a conference room! just a thought. or just chill in the room where everyone's playing magic
I'm there too. It's a little far, but not that bad. I'm still hoping there's a shuttle running along that strip (which is a pretty major road - the same one the convention center is on, only N, not W). As I said previously, two years ago we stayed on a strip parallel to this (Harbor Island Drive) and there were shuttles going back and forth once an hour or so. The "official" CCon shuttles only seem to run in the immediate Con area, so I think these might have been run by the various hotels. Regardless, even if I have to take cabs I saved enough $ by not staying downtown to afford it. And if we can coordinate cab rides, so much the better.
i am coming for the entire run (weds night to sunday)...can't wait..my 1st sdcc.. is parking really bad around the convention center?? i am staying at a friend's house in la jolla and driving in everyday in a rental car... fingers crossed parking is not too insane... look forward to meeting some people from the board... tis a real shame that isaac will not be in san diego & therefore no nerdquake
getting hotels yesterday was murder! almost had one 3 times until the system decided to crap out. finally managed to get one a block away at a fairly decent price
I got flight and SDCC tickets, but can't find a hotel anywhere! It's my girlfriend and 2 of our friends. Is there no hotels left out all in this town? PM if you got any suggestions! The four or us have been searching all week. Thanks.
At this stage of proceedings it's doubtful unless you are prepared to drop serious $$$ . . . the further out of town, the better the availability!
