hey folks. the name is silver_lining_man, also known as Josh. I've been here on the boards for a little over a year, and have been collecting j-vinyl and kaiju for about that long. i have a wife and a son, love comic books (super-hero stuff, but dabble in the altie indie stuff most of you who like comics seem to like a small bit), i smoke & drink, hate shoveling snow or mowing the lawn, i have a brown wagon-wheel printed couch with the legs cut off that totally rules, and am totally broke from hospital bills and filming expenses. here's a pic of me and my boy, Oliver. (my wife thinks toy collectors are creepy, so i refrained from posting a pic of the full fam here) and here's a pic with me and my toys after a successful reorganizing (which has been reorganized about 5 times since this pic was taken)
I'm Ryan. Not Paul or Paulie. I work with polyvinyl chloride conduit in my job, hence "paulievinyl". Clever, I know. I collect japanese toys, shitty old punk LPs and shitty tattoos. I play the bagpipes. I love japanese cinema including monster films, Akira Kurosawa flicks, anything with ToshirÅ Mifune and Toei 70's pinky violence films. I also collect DVDs of all of the aforementioned films. I'm underpaid, overworked and drink a shitload of beer.
Hey everybody I have been here too long ..I should stop buying these toys and focus on going outside and researching tree frogs
I'm Ryan. But my friends call me Devil. Which is strange because strangers say I look like Jesus. Been here, and collecting JP vinyl since 2007, so I would still consider myself a bit of a Fresh Meat. There's always a lot more to learn. I spend WAY too much time here and if my family knew how much money I have spent on toys they would disown me. Dat's me with one of my Sphinx cats.
I'll introduce myself again: Hey guys, I'm Alex, I work for Super7. I like mid century modern furniture, records, collecting ex girlfriends, smog monsters, the Cro Mags, burgers, Virginia, walking to work, Indian food, the city of San Francisco, lucky cats, Obake dogs, downstroked guitars, bulldogs, boston terriers, straight edge and long walks. here is the most up to date photo of me:
Geoff...based in London, UK, but originally from Birmingham (no...not the Alabama one). Been collecting vinyl for about 10 years although most of that has long been sold on. I like art - specifically people like TheLondonPolice, Alback, KnowHope, Eelus and similar - and also love motorsports. By day I work in marketing for an IT company, by night I write for Clutter Magazine, attend various gallery openings and attempt to finish Final Fantasy XII...too many damn side quests!!
been here for a couple of years but don't say much. live in seattle with my girlfriend and 3 cats. i'm in a noise/experimental band and co-own a record label releasing stuff ranging from this russian guy doing dub-step to really abrasive electro punkish stuff, and then cex. i paint as often as i can which is not often enough. read alot of comics mostly on the job. here is a currentish photo ( my hairs a little longer now and my beard is about 2 inches longer now)
i'm alex and all my stuff and opinions and music and movies are better than yours except for my polaroid camera. it stopped working. so if you have one that works, it is better than mine
mine is the result of being too lazy to shave regularly well, the stache stays. i shaved it off once and my wife's reaction after staring at my face for a minute was "nope"
Since page 11 is dedicated to the "beard"...Here's my 2 monther. Always was fascinated with dinos and played with cheap robots as a kid. Got back into collecting a few years back. Sometimes get annoyed by the overabundant use of the word "kay-joo".
Darn! You guys are all making me with I had a beard again! What's the name of the band, and what's the name of the label? I do noise and run an experimental label as well...
Name's Myles. I'm married and have two boys (9 and soon to be 6). I myself am past the 40 mark. I grew up on Godzilla (and Shaw Brothers) flix on Strong Island, NY. I had a couple Shogun Warriors toys as a kid, and rediscovered them and ebay about seven years ago. That was the beginning of the end for me. I relocated to South Florida about 6 years ago. I've mostly been a diecast robot collector, but in terms of kaiju, I had some cheap Bandai vinyls and the Godzilla and Rodan jumbos. Recently, I've been getting into the more expensive vinyls, and my collecting focus as a whole has almost completely shifted. Pretty crazy. I don't have a full beard, but I do have a goattee. Other hobbies? Nah - who has time for them? But I do watch a helluva lot of TV and movies, and I'm a huge b-ball fan (only the pros) and I play poker.
I can't grow a full beard... I'm Jay, I like toys. Vinyl from the west, vinyl from the east, action figures, fast food premiums, yo-yos. My main loves however are late 80s/early 90s action figures, Food Fighters, Barnyard Commandos, TMNT, etc. which is why I'm drawn to this place. I can't afford too much sofubi but if I could my place would be chock full of Gargamel. At christmas with women both young and old as hell: ^ my "I'm going to eat me some cookies!" face.
Does that mean I can't post my mini essay on why Food Fighters are the greatest toys to grace this country since plastic soldiers?
