I did this elsewhere when I probably should have done it here. Here it goes: I'm Len. I'm 38 and I'm a Bay Area native. I live in San Francisco and I work in Oakland. I've collected many things in my lifetime and still have most of those things even though I no longer actively collect them. What can I say? I find it difficult to let go. I suppose I've collected toys since 1978 when I got my first Star Wars action figures. I think of that as collecting because even though I was only 9, I did not play with them, but simply displayed them and kept them in their storage cases with all the accessories. I still have every one of them in like new condition, not a one of them missing a gun, cape, light saber, etc. As far as toys go, the past decade + was ruled by action figures of one type or another and LEGO. I got into vinyl a few years ago. Designer Western, mostly, and now the Japanese stuff. I'm really into classic style kaiju as it's the aesthetic that appeals most to me. I'd collect vintage if I could afford it, but... In addtion to vinyl toys, my interests include original art, roller hockey, drawing/painting and travel. I'm sure most here are familiar with Giant Robot (or, Giant Robo if you prefer) of Jonny Sokko and his Giant Robot fame. I'm the captain of my roller hockey team and I named it Giant Robot. You can't see it clearly, but check the logo of the jersey I'm wearing in the pic below.
My name is Matthew. I am originally from Detroit, Michigan. I went to U of M for writing, after that I decided to get a BFA in art. From there I moved to New Orleans for my MFA in Photography/Digital Media. I started collecting vinyl toys through my art mentor Tom Whitworth, who is a mega collector of toys. I found my way to Skullbrain looking for out of print issues of S7 (at the time purely for design inspiration). Anyway, I graduated, Katrina hit, and I moved to New York.
Whats up, I've been lurking around on here for a little while now just trying to get all the info I can so as not to start getting Fresh Meat bashed for asking dumbass questions, some of you might already know me from either KR or the VR boards. I live in NY and have been collecting vinyl for a couple years now but have just taken my first steps into kaiju by picking up a TT BLObPUS, and I'm hooked. I'm really starting to think about selling of some of my other stuff to help finance this new addiction, I knew this would happen, aww well....
Name is Denton, Im 25 years old. Ive been collecting Star Wars toys for atleast 4 years now, from there I slowly made my way towards western vinyl and am now slowly making my way towards the eastern plunge. Im married, have a 2 year old daughter, a scottish terrier named "Molly" and some kind of a cat named "JoJo". He is the devil. I work at Mulligan Painting, Inc where I read blue prints (plans) for paint jobs. I went to school for a year to learn how to read blue prints and have decided its not for me though the money is pretty damn good. I am currently going to the National School of Technology for Medical Assisiting and from there I will continue my education for my PA (Physiscians Assistant). I like long walks on the beach, candle lit dinners......and a good rogering
Kozik's stuff is what really got me in to collecting vinyl, so I'll be keeping his stuff, but some of those other things(I won't mention what they are called for fear of having bottles thrown at me) might be going up for sale soon... Darkside here I come....
hey there, i'm jeff. i'm 25 i lurked around here a few months before joining. i dont post all that much because, well, i dont have all that much to say. i grew up in CT and got into really collecting toys when my aunt gave me my cousins shogun warriors, like the 2ft tall ones, from there on i was hooked and since i'm a packrat i still have those and all the other toys i've accumulated over the years. i used to go to nyc all the time and unlike my friends spent all my money on records and toys instead of drugs. i went to college in RI and after i graduated i toured around in my shitty punk band and ended up moving to providence. i work at an insurance company to go and spend all the money to fill my small apartment with toys and records (and on dumb tattoos)
OK might aswell get it done with... Full name Roberto Ramos Decastro. Was born in the Philipines and grew up here in the good ole US of A. As a kid I played with GI-Joes (12"), Vinyl kaiju and Shogun worriors. As an adult I pretty much collect the same with the addition of Fight figures like RXH and SB. The kaiju stuff mostly consist of Dream Rocket and odd type figures like the Eyezon etc. I'm also a robot NUT and currently spend too much cash on POPY, Shogun and Machinder robots. I worked briefly in the comic book industry in the mid 90's. I also worked for several years as a toy designer for Don Levine enterprizes, Ertle, Playmates, Re-Play, and 21st Century toys. I currently take care of the families import export binezz while I launch my new up coming toy company Atomic Mushroom . My first vinyl toy that we'll be manufacturing is the Combat-R Zero, quickly followed up by other projects in the werks. I'm also gonna try and sqeeze in a little artwork. I was about to launch a webcomic site to showcase some of my Manga work but the toy thing sort of took over everything. Right now I'm busy sculpting several new toys that I'd like to produce in Japan. Man the workplace smell like Casteline.. Here's my mugshot..
Looking forward to your toy release Robert! It'd be cool to see your Dream Rocket collection sometime, too.
I forgot about the whole bio thing, just typed some mindless scribblings about myself above if anyone cares.
Thanks, I'm going stirr crazy myself. I should get vinyl samples in October of unpainted and colored test shots. I was told that I get the resin proto back as well which is cool for posterity. Too bad the clay had to get destroyed but that was unavoidable and part of the process.
