Didn't see a thread for them, but they just showed off their latest which is pretty funny. Will be available this weekend! Instagram
Ha! Those are definitely rad. Reminds me of some of the bootleg toys I’d get in the Mexican and Chinese owned dollar stores I grew up around in South Phoenix. They always had the best stuff for kids! That artwork totally looks like some late 80’s Contra arcade cabinet vibes.
I like these a lot, but I’m assuming they will be stupid expensive just Bc also, Anyone collecting vinyl personalities? These would go great with the dalai lama and Putin ones
$180 plus shipping for the pair...which isn’t terrible considering the prices of soft vinyl toys these days:
Yes! I saw these on IG recently as well! I normally don't collect humanoid/human toys/action figures, but I really do like these! (I do have a Stan Lee action figure though! Lol) They remind me of the good times I had watching a lot of Schwarzenegger and Stallone movies with my parents back in the day, good times! As for the price though... Is this the norm/standard in prices these days?? I've been away from the toy scene for a few years (except for Godzilla Fest), so I'm not fully aware of the rising trend in sofubi prices, but they definitely seem higher than they were 5 years ago or so.... I could see these being $60 each, maybe $70.. But $90 each? Is that the new norm now? (I'm not complaining, I'm just genuinely curious and want to know what to expect with prices these days.) Even certain toys that I remember purchaing for $25/$30 retail, I see now being sold for $40-$50 retail.
Morty, Morty look I'm a popular *bURPP* kaiju... Morty I'm Garamon Rick! They're gonna pay *BRRR* hundreds on the aftermarket for me Morty!
Cost of materials go up etc., then the exchange rate fluctuates. Just like eveything else what costs X five years ago now costs X by today’s market costs and demand. Toys are no different. The factory is a factory and at the end of the day raw material is the same for everything and goes up.
Why bother trying when you have a built in market. Just ask every movie studio why they reboot or buy comic franchises.
You are right, thank you for your response. I was just not expecting such a large increase though. I would have figured a $5 - $10 increase in general over the span of 5 years, but it's a lot higher than I would have expected. It's ok and understandable. I just want sure if it's due to the cost of material/labor, or if the industry has gained some fraction and the increase was due to its' popularity. (It would be nice if paychecks would increase the same rate! Hah! Lol )
New addition to the lineup, Stage 1 Boss, "The King" (click through for IG post and more photos) After the excellent styling on Arnie and Sly I had really high hopes for this, but found it lacking compared to the first two. I think the matte finish takes some charm away, and personally his muscles and jaw are too exaggerated for me. Still, a fun addition and if they revisit it in gloss I'll probably be tempted. I'm only putting Freddie under a microscope because the first two look pretty much perfect to me.
I really liked that this sculpt wasn’t as perfect as the first two. Wish I could add this to the collection
You know, I was certain I remember seeing this years ago, as an Aitsu custom. I found it! The same guy posted promoting "The King" and in his story, it says, "Kaiju_One x akowes". https://www.instagram.com/stories/highlights/18071600986239058/
