I think this conversation is a little difficult because we are not comparing apples to apples. You have two successful entities at work here from their respective corners of the world. That's what is making this a heated debate. What flies over there may not even be considered over here. I've talked to Buff before about his love of Kaiju. The guy is balls out hooked. Just like we all are. All of his customs come from a real fan boy place. It just so happens that people already collect his work and most of his collectors are willing to pay an increased price tag because it is from him. Could he of asked Mori if it was alright? Sure, but would any of you think to ask Mori, whom we all respect a great deal, if it was alright to paint on one of his characters? I know I'd be kind of nervous. Now imagine you are an artist who gets scrutinized everyday for the artistic choices you make. I'd love to see an official RxB release. Hell I'd even fund it.
Buff is on the board as Buff...he's got posts in the Custom section. See my link in a post on this thread.
which artist dropped this turd in the shape of kochaos? http://www.toytokyo.com/shopping/index. ... ct_id/9200 and whats up with the price on this? http://www.toytokyo.com/shopping/index. ... ct_id/9185 I like the figure, but that price is absurd.
this PK choasfighter rules. http://www.toytokyo.com/shopping/index. ... ct_id/9192 (need to balance my earlier neg with some pos)
hee hee that would be me... yes the photo sucks ... looks slightly cooler in person but it is a crappy little piece of work. I think they put it up on TT as a joke on me - was never meant for sale. thats a custom by the VJ's Tiger Michiko, I don't think she really wanted to sell it.
the prices are high on the Vinyl Junkies stuff...but I think she rarely if ever does one-offs and would prefer to keep them. So she put a high price on them. Originally she wasn't going to sell them at all...but put the high price on them at the end. there was a huge range of prices on the pieces in the show. We put the prices that people wanted based on a gallery commision and such. 75% of everything sold, so most people seemed happy...this thread is all over the place.
also, it does appear that Garadama just wrote KT but meant TT...as KT had nothing to do with this piece. this thread is really confusing...and really belongs in "whatever" at this point...except that some customs in the KINYC show were RxH...but by far more were other companies as people are probably scared as hell to customize RxH releases nowadays for fear of being beheaded. my head is spinning.
yeah, I know...some of the Akro sets and pieces from the show went out in gigantor boxes because I hate using crappy boxes to send stuff out...so when it's me, I'd rather send a nice box that's too big than a small box that will fall apart. hey, if you have a kid you can give it to them to make a clubhouse out of... nothing gets by you guys without comment, huh? thank god I'm on the friendly end of the comments a lot of the time...otherwise I'd be terrified of you all.
Yeah I started laughing, I want to see this just for him I like how he went through "major surgery" for the role
I just hope the movie is as good as I am imagining it should be given the premise, people in it, etc. if it's that good...we're looking at a modern classic. but I don't want to get ahead of the actual release. now this thread is back on track, huh? can't wait to see RD Jr's character holding the new Mini Bigaro for product placement in the middle of a battle scene.
I just got to read this, and it is very interesting. As for making a unofficial run, I think this is not a very good idea. To explain as best as I can.... Yes, you bought couple of solids with your own money, but think of what the word "RUN" means. It means that the figure you have made a custom run of to sell still has the figures companies name on it. To people who does not know that is "Unofficial" may think that it was a collaberative run. People in Japan may see it as," This company does collabs with fans. Maybe I should hit him up, and if he says no, then I'll bring this topic up". As you can see, it is very annoying if you are a creator for such figure and start getting millions of calls and being yelled at or debating about something you never heard of. With Mori, this has come up many time when I have talked to him. Doing a "commission work" is fine. The customer knows you as a artist and wants a one of a kind for their collection. Posting a custom you did and one person is interested is fine. They like it, they want it, they buy it. But startting a "Unofficial Run" is just disrespectful to the maker of the figure. Not talking to them about doing it and just going ahead and selling a run is just not a good idea. Another way of thinking is, RxH is popular right now. Everybody is buying SOLIDS and customizing for fun. Make a run thats awesome and sure you'll make cash. But would it be the same if it wasn't popular??? To me, it just seems that if something is hot, it's a window for making cash. Do you think the makers would like to know that also? I don't think they would. SOLIDS were made so the customizers here can have fun and make their own one of a kind. Experience what the makers in Japan has to do. I've also talked to some of the guys in Japan, and many have told me that there is not alot of interest in custom painting a figure. Still more people prefer model kits like Gundam and so on. Sorry to make this long. But I thought I should let you guys know what I feel and what I have heard before. Go and buy SOLIDS to paint, do commission work and so on. But don't buy it just to make a run and selling it to make some big cash.
