Anyone watch New Mutants now that it’s on HBO? Is it any good?
It starts well but quickly gets awful.
This is nifty.
I am amused by the black widow actress suing Disney now that her contract is over and she is done with marvel movies. I have noooo idea if her claims have any merit(I would assume they do)but she did already get 20+ million for her last film. How much more does she want?
Nerd response (even though I could care less) but I think the issue is this...if the movie was released in the theater, she would get a bigger back end cut of the profit. However, since it was streamed Disney gets 100% of the streaming profit. It's the reason why theaters were so mad because they lost money.
Either way..you are right 20 million to act in front of a green screen?
No idea what any of this is about, but I'm fully in favor of anyone and everyone suing Disney. Sue them into oblivion.
I actually took the time to look into it since I posted here.
So apparently Black Widow had the biggest drop in ticket sales from opening week to the next week ever for a Disney movie. It wasn't even close. That pissed off theatre owners who said it was a direct result of the Disney Plus release(which was not free)and that the at home release led to instant pirating of a perfect version of the film which hurt ticket sale even more.
Scarlett Johansson is now officially done with Marvel and probably movies in general for awhile since she decided to start having kids and whatnot. It was estimated that on top of the 20 million she already made from this one movie she could have pulled in another 50 million if the film did as well as they expected in actual movie theaters. She believes the disney plus release screwed her over and said that she had been promised the movie would get a full theatrical release before anything streaming happened so she is suing disney.
Disney actually released a statement about the lawsuit and basically said she was a jerk for not understanding that covid changed all the rules. Trying to make it sound like she should be willing to lose money instead of them.
Poor them. All of them. I lose so much sleep over millionaires losing millions
Home viewers had to pay $30 extra to see Black Widow on Disney Plus. My understanding is that Johanssen was not offered a cut of that money
She gets only the box office proceeds, in accordance with her original contract. Her lawyers offered to sit down with Disney to discuss the matter, but they refused to negotiate. I feel like she is entitled to her day in court.
Also, if anyone hasn't seen Under the Skin yet, you should do so.
Scarjo may want to watch out. Other than the Department of Defense, the Mouse buys more bombs than anyone in the US.
That movie creeped me the fuck out. I totally had nightmares. Thanks for reminding me
Interesting - thanks for the recap! Billionaires trying to screw millionaires. As suspected, my opinion stands - fuck Disney. I loathe that they own two properties I'm actually interested in (SW and Marvel - duh). If it weren't for that, I'd probably never watch another Disney creation ever again...other than re-watching my Tron DVD (original, not reboot - again, duh).
Very much enjoyed The Suicide Squad.
Suicide Squad 2 was so much better than the first one. It has all the feels. Very fun watch!
I enjoyed it a lot myself.
My only complaint is that my least favorite character in the entire movie is getting his own spin-off show. Any other character would have been way more fun in my opinion.
Ss2 was incredible! Up there w/ thor Ragnarok, blade and, ant man. true vision always trumps hype
"The Weasel Children's Hour" -
One hour of Weasel killing children.
^^ Would watch. Haven't dug a character that much with only two minutes of screen time and zero dialog since Bosk/Zuckuss/4Lom.
I picture him killing children but like totally by accident. Playing tag but accidentally impaling them with an overzealous tag swing. Play wrestling but accidentally yanking limbs off. Tea parties with radiator fluid cause he likes the flavor.
He's just misunderstood.
Bog ol' Lalo Salamanca vs. li'l Mattie Ross? Into it.
I need to report that this wasn't nifty, it sucked balls. Thing can't even stand due to the awful articulation in the legs. Pass on this one unless you want to permanently keep it in a flying pose on a really sturdy stand.
I just got this and it's brilliant.
I just watched The Batman. I never saw any of the Kilmer/Clooney Batman movies, but after watching this newest iteration I can't imagine how any of the others could be worse. So. Fucking. Boring. And for THREE HOURS. Zero stars. Two severed thumbs flushed down the toilet.
A lot of people saying that, but I thought it was great. Its not a flashy kids movie like most of that Marvel tripe. I'll stick to DC, thanks.
Watched The Batman last night as well & agreed with @---NT--- for the most part. A much shorter run time would've served the movie better... but overall it felt like a tired re-tread desperately trying to recapture the elements that made the Nolan trilogy so great.
I get the Batman property is DC's biggest cash cow and will be milked, spun-off & rebooted until the end of time... That said, after having enjoyed the Burton & Nolan entries and Joker, I'm pretty much over it at this point.
Conversely, watched Spiderman: No Way Home the night prior and was not bored. Not a Marvel fanboy by any stretch (plenty of films/shows I haven't bothered to watch yet), but even their longest entries never felt like a slog to get through. So yeah I'll stick to Marvel, thanks @The Moog
