hitting the brookfield and milwaukee zoo this weekend, if anyone wants me to snag any figs let me know, if the response is not too high I will cover funds until ready to ship if I get avalanched or you want full sets I may need funds beforehand, to see available figs go to http://www.moldamania.com/
My wife went to Brookfield recently and got me a green gorilla. I also know they have dolphin, lion and bear ones among others.
I'm interested in getting a crocodile if you see one, maybe a gorilla in another color other than black... Love these things.
I know Fletchthis was asking for help with these. You could try to get a hold of him. http://skullbrain.org/bb/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=89
he is actually the reason I thought to ask if anyone on the board was interested, he brought them up off an unrelated subject, and they popped up elsewhere in threads so the pieces just fell into place if you can not get to one in person there are videos on youtube that do the machine some justice, but to hear all the mechanisms whirr and feel the compressors rattle the floor just rules
Don't forget the smell, too. I grew up in Milwaukee, and moved here to Seattle a few years back. I think I appreciate those machines a little more, now. I'll have to hit the zoo when I'm back in the fall,
the smell and the near dangerously hot vinyl!! Those things were a huge treat for me and my sister growing up, we'd buy them on trips to Florida. I loved the crocodile on a log...it was usually black vinyl. When I was in Chicago a year ago me and my kid tracked down all the machines in the Field Museum, great stuff.
holy shit! this is amazing! are typically found in zoos? i might just have to go to the LA zoo tomorrow to hunt one down because im so intrigued!
They removed the machines from the LA Zoo a few years ago. Really made me sad since I had enjoyed getting them since I was a little kid.
The Mickey mold was actually made for Disneyland. They had the machines there in the 60's I believe. I've got a couple of the originals one.
101 mold a ramas, it was a riddiculous escapade running them all down, missed one at the brookfield got raped by standstill traffic twice in indiana so we got there late, luckily we forgot about the time warp of westward travel and stole back an hour from shitty traffic
WOW indeed!!!!! What an awesome assortment. I'm use to what the L.A. Zoo had...which were only animals. Thanks for picking one up for me!!
That is an awesome assortment. Thanks for grabbing some for all of us. What is the red one in front? I can't seem to figure it out.
Holy shit! That is quite a haul! Also, thanks for the link, Missy! I had no idea the PSC had some of these...astronaut, PSC building, and an F-16?! Yes please!
