most of the molds are f'ing old, up to 50 years old, the guy that runs replication devices tools new molds to order, as mentioned earlier rotofugi has a new mold in the works, most molds are "open" pieces i.e. you can get a T-rex at many different locales the only difference is some are blank on the base others are marked with where they are from, a handful only operate out of one specific locale i.e. I am almost positive gatorland has the only gator wrestler and the henry ford has the only henry ford statue and rosa parks bus (my favorite, such a nice limey green)
i am making a run to the museum of science and industry on monday. any requests for mold-a-ramas from there? last time i was there, they still had the black train, white shuttle, green tractor, and gray submarine.
taking a trip through michigan, will be the henry ford, I am not possitive if the greenfield village machines will be active, and also one machine will be installed with an olive green washington bust but I am unsure as to which mold he will replace, hit me up if you want some and we can work things out, also the henry ford has wieny whistles if anyone is interested mold list here http://www.moldamania.com/
brookfield zoo still has their limited time holiday molds! i just made an orange reindeer and a red santa. there are possibly 4 more holiday ones. come on down, it's free zoo day!
the field museum has a limited run of an orange camel to coincide with their genghis kahn special exhibit. it's the same bright orange that is used for the stegosaurus that's usually in its spot. anyone want one?
I was just at the Knoxville Zoo yesterday and was really surprised to see that they had these machines there. At a buck a pop, you can guarantee I got all of them. Camel Baby Elephant Giraffe and baby Gorilla Black Bear River Otter Panther Tiger There was also another machine listed on the zoo map that wasn't there. I asked about it. It's a Chimpanzee, but the machine is being repaired. For completion sake, I'm definitely going to have to go back. Really cool machines. I wish there were more of these things around.
Next time anyone goes anywhere I would like a couple of anything if you can swing it. We don't have anything like this in Australia and my daughter would be fascinated by these. She is already right into toy production and tries to soak it all up, they have a similar machine at her school which makes keyrings etc where you can inject the hot vinyl by hand by sticking plastic pellets in and pulling a lever after it's melted (I think they have these in "shop classes" everywhere all over the world.) Now I think about it it's the same thing except it's not an electric machine and the moulds they have are very basic e.g. flat-circular, flat-square, oval etc and kids can use it to burn their hands off.
the brookfield zoo has a royal blue panther and a bright red see/hear/say-no-evil monkeys set. i've never seen those at the zoo before. and their halloween molds are due any day now.
WO! Are they supposed to relate to anything at the zoo, they are pretty random. All about 3-4" I suppose?
I'm at Lowry Park today. Anyone want me to grab something? I'll try to update with what they have. Looks like they have animal molds right now. I've seen an orange tiger so far.
I missed a lot on this thread so I'm resurrecting it. (I love Mold-A Rama so much!) I have a lot of doubles from FL and would love to trade with someone if anybody out there has doubles from the Midwest (or elsewhere). I"m going to Chicago soon so I'll likely get most of the current molds at the usual spots. PS: I run this group that kind of failed-join it and make it cool: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1524508671186922/
