Surprised there's only two mentions of this show so far! Let me be the 3rd. Just started last night, and I'm really digging it!

I wasn't too fond of Raised by Wolves by the end of the season. Curious to hear what you think.

I really enjoyed the first half of the season. Lost me completely in the second half. Don't really care if they make a second season or not.

The Queen's Gambit is a trip. I had been saving it, but after watching the trainwreck that is The New Mutants I needed a redeemer for Anya Taylor-Joy. Was crying laughing at the end of the first episode.

So incredible. His ability to pair narration and footage is on a whole other level. It’s the perfect blend of humor and humanity.

Glad it was renewed for another season!

I'm currently enjoying 'ZeroZeroZero' which is an Italian produced crime show about the Cocaine trade. Gabriel Byrne stars initially and the caliber of acting overall is great. Its not ground breaking in anyway but its very solid drama nonetheless, shot impeccably in several locations worldwide. It looks like a feature film most of the time. Anyway, if you like Narcos you will probably love it. Its possibly a bit more realistically bleak than Narcos, but its still one hell of a ride so far.

The missus and I finished The Ripper a couple nights ago and found it both parts equally interesting and moderately disturbing(not the exact word I wanted to use, but can’t think of the proper term at the moment).

Edit: Also, if you have HBO Max, Heaven’s Gate: The Cult of Cults was a very interesting watch. Lots of details and inside looks from ex - members and some family of [tragic] lifelong members.

Seconded on the Heaven's Gate series. Four parts was the perfect length.

Can't hurt to also mention that it has Tcheky Karyo in it, music by Mogwai, created by Stefano Sollima (son of Sergio), who made the first two seasons of Gomorra great, based on another book by Roberto Saviano. Impressive first episode, diving in...

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that. Its a really good soundtrack.

And yeah, I've got one ep to go. It's been consistently good throughout.

This should probably go in the Crimes on SB thread but I'll admit to it here...

...I have watched Cobra Kai on Netflix and not hated it.

In fact, the way they poke fun at so much of modern view points using Johnny as their foil amuses me and whilst not highbrow, I found it pleasant mind-candy. The ideal switch off and forget the pandemic TV.

Also, anyone watching See on Apple TV?

I've finished it and would be interested to hear other opinions - there are elements I liked but also other bits that didn't work. Don't want to say too much to avoid spoilers.

Yep, I think they've kept a fun retro vibe going through the episodes really well. I'm halfway through the 2nd season, its nicely done, keeping the hate between them simmering away ... the super nerd kid is hilarious. I love him, he's great.

I think Cobra Kai is pretty awesome, though some of the teen actors can get a bit annoying in an overacting sense. But I think Johnny and Daniel reprised as adults and how contrasting their lives are, yet constantly intertwining, is great. The story is a little hokey, but I personally attribute that to the 80’s - ness of the original Karate Kid flicks, and it keeps it fun. As Fox mentioned, the constant jabs of Johnny so out of tune with today’s generation and technology is a good giggle.

I still haven’t seen anyone else besides me talk about The Chilling Tales of Sabrina( ), but the missus and I just wrapped up season four, and we thought it was a lot of fun.

There’s a series coming out today(January 5th) called History of Swear Words, hosted by Nicolas Cage that could be funny. And January 13th brings in a docuseries about Richard Ramirez, the Night Stalker.

I enjoy this series too. Occasionally I feel like I'm too old to care about the high school drama teen angst shit but most of the show is just fun demon devil hell witch stuff anyway. It seriously reminds me of watching Buffy many years ago except from the bad guys point of view instead. Since this is the final season ever I actually think I'll start the whole series over before watching the last season. I would never have the time to do that if not for the whole stay home cause of the pandemic thing. So it'll be fun to play the series again while getting work done and then actually pay attention to the last season.

Another light watch, which has some potential, is The World According to Jeff Goldblum on Disney+

Two episodes in (Sneakers, Ice Cream) and I can’t help but think it would be fun for him to go to a Japan and check out soft vinyl toys; his quirky approach, albeit very much a peripheral light overview, is watchable and amusing. Think Readers Digest overview (if you’re old enough) or the Twitter version of a documentary (if you’re not ;)).

By way of the Great British Baking Show I discovered Derry Girls. That show is fucking hilarious. I recommend it

Can't believe it hasn't been mentioned on here before! All seasons are excellent.

If you enjoy DG, also check out Uncle with Nick Helm (it is on Netflix). Another great show is Raised by Wolves (2013) written by Caitlin Moran; very quirky but in the same vein as Derry Girls.

Another one, if you track it down in the US is Moon Boy with Chris O'Dowd.

That should keep you in British TV for awhile.

I'm struggling to continue through both Cobra Kai, and Sabrina. Really want to like both, but just find it difficult. I loved the ABC Sabrina too. Even kept a journal of all the times Salem was a real cat vs that crappy puppet.
