The body colors actually transition down the left leg with the rest of that texture pattern, and I have a feeling they do that on the parts we can't see. I get what you are saying though. I'm in for this if we get a shot through Max or Lulu. If we don't I'm happy enough staring at the OG on my shelf.
Nice to have easy access to unpainted versions. In the past, DR would sometimes release unpainted versions simultaneously with the painted versions at an event, but the unpainted figures were usually only available on the day of the event and were very difficult to find afterward. I was tempted to grab all three, but not sure I want a set in the same color. I wonder if the ivory vinyl will match with the unpainted Yamomark figures that Lulubell sold earlier. Hard to tell from the photos.
Anybody get theirs yet? So fun in hand. Nothing quite like it in my collection. His facial expression is priceless, like a silent scream. Oh and I'm partial to the skull side of the face.
Just got mine today, and couldn't be more pleased. The metallic sprays on the wings and purple on the body truly make the sculpt shine.
I managed to grab the new Eyezon! Along with the nice new blue & gold Negora. Might take a little while longer to arrive in Australia, but I will post pics when he lands
I want to open a wrestling league dedicated to Dream Rocket Kaijin. I want to witness the epic battle as Devil Bat Man pile drives Cobraman into the tasty freeze cart. Mark posted pics on Twitter of the new Eyezon painted for the cons and it is just stunning. I love the old Eyezon quite a bit, but this new one is so damn cool. The new sculpt creates so many new opportunities for blends in the paint. It looks like it arose from some irradiated lagoon.
Only Handsome Taro could come up with such an amazing reinterpretation, hope he gets to sculpt new versions of Drazoran and Tripus, so happy i was able to score one of these
I'm loving the new Eyezon sculpt. The original I have(clear purple with guts) is awesome already. But this new one looks much more monster-like for me. Angrier, even. Hoping for a guts version of this guy, too!
Pretty sure a Tripus or Alien Xam would be next, since those where made in China and haven't had a true sofubi treatment.
Agreed. Not a damn thing wrong with Yajima-san's sculpts. Exactly. I care less about what the material is...it's about the sculpt for me. The earlier Chinese figures are all right...but it's clear they lack the spirit of classic sofubi. I'm not trying to be a snob, but there's a real qualitative difference between the original Eyezon and Handsome Taro's. You can tell the latter is a Japanese toy.
On the other hand, the 'Chinese factory' that produced Maxx, Xam and Eyezon (and probably all of the non-JP Max Toy vinyls) is ThreeZero. So there's that.
Is that a good thing? I just had to google what "ThreeZero" was. The vinyl quality on some of those earlier figures (especially the GID Xams) was pretty bad... :/
Hehe...only really Ben (prometheum5) was, I think! 3A seems to be it's own weird animal...I think mostly 1/6 doll--pardon me...figure--collectors were into them. They look neat and the quality seems great, but the factory's record with the early MaxToyCo stuff is way spotty.
