As a non attendee, here are my thoughts... I think Gargamel were overwhelmed when their customs last year went really fast, as I recall. The demand for "custom" toys by them, many are aware , increased dramatically the last few years. Plying the route of custom extravaganza this year, I'd like to think, was for mainly more people, reaching out to more fans, for both attendees and non attendees, for a chance to own an awesome toy by them. We are not sure about the real reason why custom toys were favored by them this year, as opposed to having some standard releases. I think, by creating an SDCC line up takes up, eats up a lot of energy and resource, compared for example to customizing an existing sculpt? Im not sure. But this year, gave way and highlighted an awesome debut of my most favorite sculpt from them in standard size---Me=happy! Yey! With the market of mostly from America in mind, and not many of you from the US have the time and energy, can really fly out to Japan to attend the shows at Thrashout, SDCC must be an obvious venue for the barrage of customs. I hate to second guess the guys at Gargamel, but I am really happy that I scored two of the pieces I think rocked and really love from the Gargamel booth this year.
Anyone know what the little raygun spaceman with rivets is called? He's way cool, a great sculpt, character for days. Is it based on a pre-existing character or toy?
S- Teammate. Space Teammate. Check it out Dean. More info here. http://skullbrain.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=35717&p=535111&hilit=buta+spaceman#p535111
The painted Spaceman from the show were probably all painted on test shots from the fActory, usually when a toy is first cast the first pulls are flesh. So the guys probably got a few and painted them for the show. I don't think you would want to count them as an actual production run.
Has there/Is there any word of a standard release of the little Space guy or Full-sized Deathra? Like a release super7/distro stores will carry? I don't quite have the connections to get hookups straight from shows, and I want a full sized Deathra! =) phil
^ Woah, seriously good stuff, that pocket is a must. First deathra release is Thrashout colors too, very nice.
tempting...! I dig the pocket zag and deathra. good to see that there will be standard production releases.
the thrashout deathra looks amazing! the placement of the red on the wings, eye, and tongue are spot on best gargamel release in awhile
Wow. Maxaltoman called it when he talked about one in TO colours. Would look so nice teamed up with the TO Zag from the 2009 lucky bag.
Aren't they going to have to sell a boatload of these as standard production releases to justify and pay for the complete new sculpt? Not like slapping a Mibora head on the existing Zag body...
i remember S7 was given a limited amount of the anniversary releases last year but were offered to locals first. and if thats the case again, i'm sure the deathras will be as good as gone. but i'll definitely be on the hunt for this version.
