Very cool, are those from a personal collection? I always had a fascination with glass eyes as a kid.
^^^ nah, just my usual random pilfering of Japanese blogs. I thought it was a really cool photo and wanted to share!
^^^ Saw this shelf on flickr. Love it. So many great toys in there and a great mix of repro and vintage.
medicom? anywaym supermantoy certainly has a good display, some gems in there. my attention is immediately locked on nara's black unpainted sleepless nite. if its from how2work and not bootleg, then wow!
And by and large we love it when you do, too! Usually I'm against the mixing of vintage and repros on the same shelf; but you've managed to pull it off with a rare grace.
Thanks, ironically I've shuffled this shelf just a tad more. Will take some more shots soon. While I wish I could afford 100% vintage, some of the repros aren't so bad and take the sting out of NOT owning originals and constantly lusting for them. Boat definitely steers towards vintage whenever possible though.
Love these. Oddly enough, this glass is actually what got me into collecting sofubi. I had always collected toys, action figures and whatnot... and a buddy who vacationed in SF picked this tumbler up as a gift for me. We didn't really know the story behind it, he just thought it was weird... and toy related... and that I would dig it. But it definitely caught my interest, and when I visited SF myself later that year, I stopped into S7 and bought a Secret Base blue mummy Damaged Brain and a Blobpus Murder Blobpi , my first Japanese soft vinyl toys. Thanks for sparking some good memories Mark!
