I fucking hate COVID, and I hate that Trump is making it look like the 210,000 people who didn’t survive just weren’t “trying hard enough.” Also his treatment used aborted fetal cells, I wonder what kind of fucking mental gymnastics the Right will have to go through to rationalize that. Anyway, that orange waste of space aside... It’s been 7 months since I’ve seen my boyfriend. It’s been 7 months since I had fast food, or went to a restaurant. It’s been 7 months since I walked down a sidewalk. Life under lockdown has become increasingly depressing... I want to see people so badly. I saw my teacher today to drop off/pick up ceramics, but that’s my teacher. I want to see my friends. I hope we find a sure-fire cure or vaccine for COVID, because I’m just wasting my life away. I thought being 30 would be bad, but not THIS bad.
Do you have a yard? or a nearby park? I've done a bunch of distanced BBQs with family. Everyone wears a mask and no one gets within 10 feet of each other no matter what. Since we do them at my place it's just an outdoor thing and no one can come inside. According to the science it should be really safe. Certainly helps with my sanity. You can also grab fast food from postmates/grubhub/doordash if you really want to. Or you can even get frozen fast food from grocery stores like White Castle burgers.
Sadly our park is on the complete other side of town. We do have a deck though. Honestly we’ve utilized it more than ever before. We try to eat outside, hang out outside, play with the dogs outside... sadly no guests, even with masks and social distancing. The extra family time and dog time has been nice, but it can get tiring when you only have your parents to talk to. (My friends don’t do voice calls and stuff like that, they just send messages.) Even if we did have family over, it wouldn’t be pleasant. The two family members closest to us are a complete pain in the ass. ...So it’s basically sit outside with dogs for most of the day. We haven’t been eating any food prepared outside of our house. My parents don’t trust it. They just order stuff from Costco. It’s truly lockdown, and it sucks.
INCOMING NON POLITICAL COVID POST I’ve heard that rumor as well about one of his treatments, the monoclonal drug from Regeneron. REGN-COV2 is made two antibodies, one of which includes a supply of cells that originated from kidney tissue from an abortion in the Netherlands from the 70s. Bizarre and fascinating science. So...I guess in a sense, ya..it also came from an aborted fetus. I’m not an expert in any medical field but I invest in pharmaceutical drug companies all the time ( I guess that makes me a filthy capitalist) and I’ve never seen so many pharmaceutical companies pivot to concentrating on one specific virus whether it be for a vaccine or treatment. The medical world has learned a lot since the pandemic began and you will see an effective treatment or vaccine soon. And I feel you. I’m normally a very anti social person but even I want to be with people again. I doubt I’ll see my grandmother before she dies and we have both come to terms with that thru shitty FaceTime messages. In an increasingly ugly world, it’s so hard to be positive but I really, really think we can start to think about a future where we eradicate or at least control the virus. Negativity rules the ratings but positivity will win the race.
Get more creative! During this nonsense I have watched a bunch of netflix movies while on the phone with friends. If your friends don't like talking on the phone find some new ones! I'm sure there are people here who would love to have random toy conversations with you. Even started a penpal/toy trading group where we send each other random fun stuff every two weeks because getting mail is awesome. Sending mail is easy because you can register with usps and schedule package pickups for free and choose to get things picked up from your mailbox or from your porch. Print out postage through paypal and the whole thing is effortless and totally non-contact. I just started trying my hand at linocut art because it's cheap to play with and combines sculpting and drawing which are both fun. I know it's incredibly hard now and depression sucks the will to do anything out of most people and I'm not trying to downplay that at all but there are things worth trying, even during the end of the world.
