    RIP Ursula K. Le Guin

While she lead a full life, it is nevertheless sad to hear of the passing of one of the greats of sci-fi and genre literature. As a female writer, she was groundbreaking and influential, in a time where women's equality was so rare. And more so the feat, for the awareness of still how difficult it - very unfortunately - is still, for women authors to get the recognition they deserve in science fiction and fantasy. The Left Hand of Darkness was so far ahead of its time, and of course the Earthsea books will always be a treasured favourite of mine. She is rightfully respected and acknowledged for not only her literary skill, but intertwining explorations of socio-cultural themes with ease and incorporating forward-thinking as the norm. She influenced many, including others who followed in her footsteps, but just as much people like myself who just enjoy reading and escaping into the worlds she created. Her contributions should be continued to be recommended reading for all ages, and she will be fondly remembered.

She gave us many excellent quotes, but I think I'll share this letter she wrote in request to a 'blurb.'

    RIP

Thank you, Steve, for allowing me once again to remain speechless in the face of loss yet feel the words have been spoken.
