Hi, Hitting Chicago for a Mold-A-Rama mission and I have 25 molds on my list so far. Rotofugi would make it 26. Do they still have their machine running? Anyone know what color it is right now? (I have a black helper dragon already) Thanks!
I think there was an out of order sign on it when I was in there a couple of weeks ago. It may have been fixed now though.
Nothing to do with the roto-matic. But an article on Rotofugi and it's unfortunate current situation. https://www.dnainfo.com/chicago/201...-open-beloved-toy-shop-rotofugi-asks-for-help
^I saw that earlier. Friggin' stinks. Particularly the part about carrying "more pop culture figures" to get by. No one should have to do that.
I was just getting a couple pieces about that whole mess popping up on my FB news feed. Real bummer. They sound like a real nice pair who run it. I wish them the best during these troubled times!
@MisterYuck I get confused when people refer to it as their "FB news feed", but I think that is the proper term. I always think they're talking about the "trending news" feature, which I would call a feed, too, and actually consists of news (like when a Kardashian posts a bikini shot or whatever. It's actually where I get most of my news ). I'm not sure why FB has decided to call the stuff your friends and family and the pages you follow "news" when very little of it is actually news (unless you hang with a lot of journalists or something), but mostly kittens falling into bathtubs and whatnot. Also, I follow a couple vinyl stores and artists on there, but I recently joined a group called Vinyl Kaiju Legion. It's actually the only non-store/artist FB page I've found. Long story short, it's awful. I mean it consists of the most spammy non-contributory content I've ever seen on Facebook. And it's a closed group! Who exactly are they keeping out? The only people I really know who collect this stuff is you guys, so I'd assumed that the folks who collect this stuff were all intelligent, interesting people. Apparently not. Apparently not, indeed.
The folks at Rotofugi are awesome. I got started collecting kaiju via purchase of Gargamel and Cronic figs from them and Lulubell in 2008-2009 time period. I think it is really important to keep the stateside brick and mortar/online stores alive, especially ones that have been run so well for so many years (Toy Karma shows anyone?). So go spend some moolah at Rotofugi and help keep them afloat through this rough patch. I just bought a Walking Killer I'd been eyeing for ages.
I'm seeing a lot of spammy posts. And if you post in a thread and then somebody comments in it, you get a notification and when you go to check it out it's a just one word post. Kind of a nuisance. Maybe I joined at a weird time... I actually just started using this avatar as my profile pic, so if you see me say hey.
I don't bother reading anything on the book anymore. Most of it's political garbage anyways. I just joined for the awesome photos. Yay toys!
Er, book? Also, haven't seen any political content, I wonder if we've gotten wires crossed somewhere? Did not know you could do that. FB seems to be incredibly secretive about actually letting you know how to do stuff. And if you google it, you're likely to get out-of-date info because they change stuff at least every couple years. Still, that would king of be throwing the baby out with the bathwater, so to speak. I do want to be notified if someone responds to a comment I've made. I guess I could just start blocking particularly egregious offenders. That seems kind of extreme, though.
I'm curious as to what kind of spammy posts you are seeing? I think James does a pretty good job of cleaning the place up. I think its one of the better facebook pages in our realm of collecting. Facebook is inherently annoying nowadays You should see some of the other pages like godzilla collectors group...lots of smartass pricks who forget that we all collect toys And yeah, you gotta figure out the filters. It's like on here when you subscribe to the for sale forum and people have conversations on there which in turn triggers an email notification making you think some new items are up. Just part of the game I've learned on here and facebook to just ignore most of the notifications assuming its of no interest to me
Browsing thru the Rotofugi shop now, and I'm kind of wishing they had an official Rotofugi shirt or something. There's no shop branded items....and I'm a huge sucker for nicely branded shop stuff.
Well, OK, I looked and this was the first post. i wouldn't characterize this as spam necessarily, but it is what I would call "insubstantial" (even by FB standards). And this is just the post that was at the top of the page. I've seen much worse. These filters you speak of, if I've commented in this thread is there a filter that would notify me when someone comments with something other than "yes", "It really is" or "I need it"? I really don't have the motivation/memory recall to periodically go back and check to see if someone's answered a question of mine or responded to something I've said for every comment I've made there. I'm only on DSL, so I actually have to wait a sec or two to see what's been posted after being notified, but it seems like this would be bothersome to anyone, really. Wait, why would you ignore notifications here? You only get one if someone's quoted your comment or "@MonstaIslandCzar-ed" you. Why would that be of no interest to you? *prepares for indefinite wait for answers to questions, since you're ignoring notifications*
To turn off notification for the entire group. Even if you choose this option you will only get notifications from a post you made whether you created it or comment on another. To turn off notification on an individual post whether you started the post or commented on another person post. Click on the drop down arrow.
Cool. Thanks for the walk-through. That will at least cut down on some of the noise. Oh, wait, I still like to be notified when somebody posts a new thread/topic/whatever FB calls them. I guess I'll have to decide if I want to periodically check the page for new posts or put up with random notifications. Unfortunately, I'm the kind of person who would rather tolerate an annoyance than make the effort to change a habit to eliminate the annoyance. I'm pretty much pathologically lazy. It's actually more of a disorder than a character trait. Seriously. But, if i don't end up using it on that page, I'm sure it'll come in handy in the future. Thanks, again! That blue fossilized-looking one is interesting.
If you are on a computer and not looking at FB on a mobile phone. If you turn of notifications, still on the side panel for your group listings will show amount of new post whether it is someone commenting or creating a new post for you to know to check on the group.
Oh, damn, I never noticed that That'll work. i feel like I should be paying you a fee of some sort or something. That actually is a pretty cool set! I did buy one of these there last month, but I'm so spoiled by sofubi it felt kind of "manufactured" when I got it. If they had more of our type of stuff there I'd have no problem diverting a large portion of my toy funds to them. I wanted to get one of those cool Anraku Pollution Cobalts they had recently, but they sold out before I could decide.
