Mind you I'm basing my opinion off of all the posts/photos on this board from both last year and this year (and all previous years...I've never been).
I give him credit for showing up. Of course I wasn't there so how disappointed could I be? I would of liked to see new releases. (I would like to see new releases every Friday too!) Now for the Rebel Ink mag... Japanese are interested (obsessed) with crappy Americana tattoos. Skulls, eagles, roses, any traditional AMERICAN shit no matter how weak it is. Likewise we are obsessed with their tattoos. Doesn't really compete for me, your talking fine art translated into the skin versus some drunken sailor "art". (no offense to the American masters of traditional American tattooing) This is one of the things that makes Chris Trevino special, like his toys or not. He has been tattooing for 20 years. Almost all DIY. He is a Master of Japanese tattoo. He is an American. Most Japanese tattoo masters were trained by their masters and their masters before them. This guy did it himself. So give credit where credit is due. It is very much like Sailor Jerry's story. He took Japanese tattoo and made it his own. Did it look like Horiyoshi? No, but he did it all by himself. There is a hell of lot of meaning and symbolism that you have to learn for Japanese tattoos to "look right". Chris knows this and most Americans dabbling in Japanese tattoo do not, even the good ones. Sorry for the tattoo artist pimping... but wanted you to know how special Three Tides/ SB artist actually is...
It was just an ignorant comment. Not a taste issue, which keeps showing by your use of the word awful.
some of us are still jet lagged and busy and haven't uploaded photos. this was my second pus event and it was the best. i got awesome stuff, got to hang with my friends, and chatted with pus for a bit. it was very informal that's for sure, pus was just hanging out talking to everyone and then eventually a table was brought out. because I'm lazy, I'll borrow Joe's picture of my handpaint mine is in front with the green hair. it was a toss up between this and the one in the back left. fucking rad...the detail is incredible.
That green one caught my eye from a mile away.(on your guys pics) It is pretty much all I saw in the case. Hope they make a production model... or, I could abort one of mine and paint it? nah.
I wish Hiddy brought some fight figures. Besides the Secret Base x S7 fight figures, I saw a lone glow bee in the Toy Tokyo case...and a figure or two at Funyara's table. Did anybody else have any for sale at SDCC 09?
