Great photo D! Though it looks more like a lovely consoling embrace than an attempted shrink attack to me. Lovely colours coming out on that Dada in the spring sun. Thank you Yuji-san for making such delights possible!
Did anybody here score that GID Baltan test sample? I had it tagged to win but missed it due to work .. Truly a loss that will haunt me for all eternity!!
^ Not I, but what a looker! Pics preserved for posterity: Praise be upon him, for sure. The crazy thing about Mr. Blue is that he's a custom - an old secret shopper of mine scored him for me years back at Cosmo Liquid. It's uncanny how much the toy looks like a production piece when you have him in hand.
So a GID run was manufactured at some point?! He's not even listed on Club Tokyo. Do you know how many were made? Is he a lucky bag item? Ugh! I don't think the pain of missing this one will ever go away! Though shame on me for just not posting my absolute max bid in the morning. I was afraid it might just get pushed up just to make me pay more. Dumb thinking obviously! Never again!
Do you mean all those ones from the same seller on eBay that say they are all samples? I don't think most, if any, of those are protos or samples. I am not an expert though!
^ Chris may have thought that my reply to Steve, about Dada, was actually a comment about the Baltan one-off. Mike or Dennis might know better, but the only GID Baltan II that I'm aware of is the blank from '99 that CT mentions. Mo' Dada:
^^^^^ It reads; "Send this figure to 666doll and he will send you 100 happy face emoticons" PM sent with my mailing address. Emoticons will be sent after I get the figure, but just to show you my sincerity,
Re: the GID Baltan 2, the unpainted GID was a lucky bag item. There was no painted GID version produced, to my knowledge. The one from eBay was listed as a paint sample. It was also signed on the foot, apparently by Yuji Nishimura. Hard to say whether it was an actual paint sample for an unproduced GID version (since it would be odd to sign a sample item), or simply a one-off by Mr. Nishimura. Given the seller, I have no reason to doubt that it was actually painted and signed by Mr. Nishimura himself. Tokyo Toy Festival Ltd. Enjoyable item. Lucky Bag version. Painted. "Gorgos." Ltd. 100 pieces.
Ditto! Thanks akum6n and David! That Baltan would have been the Crown Jewel of my M1 Baltan collection! I guess the odds are zero I will ever see it again. *sigh* I really learned a lesson to never wait on bidding!
There sure is a lot of wondrous glowy activity on this page. Thanks everyone for sharing! The Baltan was certainly a real beauty, I'd have loved to see it realised as a full run. Congrats on the new family members again Patrick! Gorgos is such a great sculpt, and I am sure happy you were able to pick up that rainbow Rodan. I'll have to get back to vigilantly hunting that series at some point.
Btw finals for school, watching playoff hockey, and buying back every oldschool jungle record I've ever sold I've had little time for toys. Now that school is done, here's some M1 (hey that rhymes): Glow Mogera (IMO best version of Mogera ever is the Bullmark version): Glow Angilas: And yes I counted on someone asking me for a backside shot of Rainbow Angilas so I thought ahead before re-shelfing
Yeah for many years that guy was my white whale but tracked him down a few years back- surprisingly inexpensive. Guess patience finally won out. One of my most prized M1 toys.
I completely agree about Mogera, greatest sculpt, and the M1 glow versions are just stunning. Very excellent Angilas' too Lixx - and here I was hoping you were going to move away from M1 stuff with the record build up. Really happy for you that you were able to track down the rainbow version.
HA I'm not buying much these days me and the g/f are trying to get out of our lease and move into a nicer apartment. I like cities but I'm of the age where noisy neighbors annoy the shit out of me (big surprise huh?). So a bigger space in the burbs has appeal. Oh I got that Rainbow Angilas 4 years ago but I never took a group shot with the others so....
Oh, I don't think it has anything to necessarily do with age; I am the same way. Neighbours really a incredible effect on the living environment (and, unfortunately, you can't pick 'em). I have always preferred some peace and quiet - but then, I would also happily live as hermit in the deep northern woods too, so I might not be the best person to ask.
I was happy to finally connect with one of the Mothra Fairy Twins sets recently. Peanuts made into vinyl form with a pair of cute and squidgy larvae pets to accompany them, you can't go wrong. I confess a mirrored Mothra could be the one thing that might have improved this set even more, but the level of detail in matching the sculpts is really well done. A wonderful quality toy from Yuji.
Nice Shobijin, Steve! I have that set as well, and it's killer...really, I think I just love ALL the M1 figures of human characters. And with an original yellow larva, I have a small squadron of Mothrae to do some damage! I have a love-hate relationship with Mogera though. Don't get me wrong--I love the sculpt. I have the rare-ish green one with orange spray...and it's one of my favorite Bullmarks. But the toy was sculpted before the movie came out--I presume--as it depicts the preproduction version of the Mogera suit. I absolutely love that movie...and I just wish there were more sofubi figures of the final Mogera design...
