Saw that, was wondering when someone would bring it up. Probably one of the people initially responsible for the price hike
$5,800 King Gorilla, $3,300 Mecha, $4,200 Itamu Offloading to buy the next hot shit . . . overpriced watches!
I'm just surprised anyone would go from collecting something as offbeat and tight-knit as monster dolls to the utterly pedestrian world of big-name watches. Hirota may be eliciting all the usual complaints lately, but yeesh. I'm sure Rolex gives a much bigger shit about you personally
Out of curiosity...can anyone confirm the quality. There is a lot of hate and rightfully so..but I'm curious. I remember when Kaws bootlegs showed up on ebay and they were inches shorter and extremely poor quality.
Could be these start bad; a good few of the sculpts look rougher than the originals. But I remember that the continuing profitability of kaws bootlegs has allowed them to reach the point where some are indistinguishable from the real thing. Hell, with the state of Medicom's QC I'd call the top kaws boots better overall I really don't want sofubi to go there. I'd probably tap out the day I have to regularly ask for legit-checks.
Anyone know what's up with the "Longneck blanks" popping up on instagram? No headers, and the seller is pretty transparent that they are making the toys themselves. What's really surprising to me is that they have said the boots will ship from the Middle East, and judging by the seller's account they seem to be based in Dubai.
Hmmm that's a new one... I'll start hitting up all of the Emirates girls on Tinder for answers @zindabad
Yes, unfortunately another bootleg operation exploiting this hobby. Mr. Yoda posted a message five days ago to his fan base, warning folks to beware and be careful....... 【ご注意ください】 Longneckソフビの偽物を本物と偽って販売している者がいます。 DMで案内が来るようです。300USDで販売しているようです。 未塗装品が多いようです。 皆様、注意してください。 ※ 画像は私が描いたラクガキです。
Weird that it's coming out of Dubai because that Zheng guy also posted a lineup of GID Majins recently
Well hopefully Mr. Yoda and MEDICOM are able to offer legitimate, larger open runs once more and the bootlegs fail to be successful. That seems to be the only avenue to take, to beat them at their own game. Win for the artist, win for the fans
Looks like Ilysnapse and Chokehazard have both been hit. I thought this would stop after he made his Samson toy.
The captions read “It doesn’t matter if you buy it or not”, which sounds incredibly sad and spiteful. And this clown is producing this shit in HUGE quantities. I’d love to know if he’s actually selling any of this, or if it’s just stacking up boxes in his house or some warehouse.
Chinese factories typically don’t deal in small number production and he’s obviously done handfuls of different toys at this point. He’s also posted piles of parts for certain figures before, too. So it’s more an assumption. Really, though, does that even matter?
Does this person go by ZhengZhengMonster(as well as other names I know I’ve already blocked) on Instagram? They just started following me last night, and all the pictures are of “Samson”...
It does because it’s said like a fact more than opinion. Not all the new Chinese factories need to pull massive amounts anymore. They can pull small like Japanese factories now.
Yes, he has multiple accounts and even those accounts he often changes the name. So it’s hard to keep up.
The dude’s bootlegging people’s toys. I don’t think fact or opinion about how much he’s bootlegging is that important. One or 1,000, it’s still shitty. This isn’t a thread about how much a Chinese factory can/can’t, will/won’t produce.
Yeah no kidding and I was one of the first and main toys he’s bootlegged. It affects me so I want to know as much as I can. So if I hear someone with info it helps me. Not just assumptions. So reading more opinions that only help to add to his myth doesn’t help. Just makes people who read this think you know something you don’t. And your the one who brought up what Chinese factories and what usually make, I just said that’s not true because I actually deal with them. I’m way more concerned with the bootlegger myself on a personal level not where it’s made.
