Exactly, I think the terminology might be lost in translation. The fakest thing about it might be the marketing and the fake intention of it trying to honor Shig. That’s why I was saying instead of declaring it fake he should let everyone know it was made by the guy who was bootlegging Nags. That is also why I posted it here. I didn’t think this toy warranted a new Thread based on the maker. I just wanted to raise the red flag for those buying in.
There's some crazy INCEPTION level sh*t going on with that sale . . . and none of it's the good kind!
Make sure to post a picture of you holding all 7 when they arrive, so the sofubi world knows you’re a serious player.
And take lots of photos of them in various restaurants and bars so they get a nice fragrant layer of chashu and beer.
With the mandatory face like a slapped arse, to express the joy and pleasure that buying sofubi brings you!
I don't know if this has been explained, but how is this guy able to create somewhat passable blanks when the originals are hard to come by and rather expensive?
@bbb I’ve been told by someone that spoke to him in length that he pays a lot of monies to acquire originals of what he boots. Dude’s loaded and began making bootlegs out of spite to certain hype artists with disregard of finances.
Yep, I remember those days… Constantly posting on IG that he was offering thousands for Nags. This screen shot is from 2017.
He should go the opposite route: make 500 of each bootleg Nag and send them for $40 each. A chicken in every pot and a Nag on every desk. Go big or go home.
After years of making occasional risky bets on YJA that all turned out fine, I got too sloppy. Three RxH fakes in a row, all probably from the "sofubi sales" IG slug. I'm going through some shit, went on a bender and ignored some red flags. There is a shit-ton of fake RxH out there now so please learn from my mistakes. In hand it's painfully obvious that they are fakes even though the paint and vinyl quality is better than you might expect. More discussion already in the RxH Collections thread for those interested in the details. I plan to post photos but it's a brutal work week so maybe later. Auctions here: https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/h1172020065 https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/t1173055543 https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n1173336759
I posted my quick RxH Fake Guide in the RxH Collections thread! Seeing two of your auctions are Bearosman, another key detail I'd like to point out is they only fake a Bearosman that doesn't have a fur vest.
Maybe YJA, but in a world where Pachi is consistently being bought and sold, I doubt it. I can't picture a proxy service like Buyee or ZenMarket taking action on your behalf. I just found Buyee's terms on the subject: "Appraising and guaranteeing items authenticity is not part of our warehouse inspection. Therefore, even if you have received a fake item, any negotiations with stores in order to cancel, return or change your item will not be accepted. Also, please understand verification that requires specialist product knowledge such as brand authenticity and cases as fake brand items are not covered for compensation even under Standard Plan or Inspection Plan. We urge customers to consider and confirm the item details carefully before bidding."
Buyee won't even leave negative feedback. I will complain to YJA...if nothing else I'd hope they have someone playing wack-a-mole with bad sellers.
I even had that thought about that re: the Bearosmen. Particularly the Kamen one--I absolutely knew I was taking a risk. It was very stupid. I told myself, well maybe Goccodo has put out enough no-vest versions that the fever has cooled a bit. The Soitsu I just got completely fooled. Red paint on black vinyl (the original is on red lame). Having never seen one in person, the head looks entirely real to me.
