I'm definitely excited to watch the final episode, but I'm sad it's going away. The last few episodes have been pretty intense so I'm very curious what's going to happen.
My prediction: Phil will die, but Tony's life will be saved by the feds when they arrest him. However, he will be charged under the Patriot Act. Why? I believe the Arab guys at the Bing that Chris was selling guns and credit card numbers to were federal agents or informants, and the FBI's efforts to build a RICO case against Tony's crew have proven fruitless. He will then rot in prison. The end.
that was fucking terrible, way to end with a fucking fizzel. who did they think they were with those not-so-dramtic pauses, beat takashi? cuz they sure as shit aren't. lame.
That was definitely the biggest "fuck you" to any audience in television history. Phil's death, though, almost made up for it, but not quite. Google Maps can't place the Raceway station where he got plugged, but here's the Barnes & Noble you see in the background, about five minutes from where I live: link If you want to know where Holsten's is, the URL isn't cooperating, but just put "holsten's, bloomfield, nj" in and you'll find it. Haven't been there in a while. I bet it's going to be packed this week.
This is hilarious. This is the Star-Ledger's online Sopranos forum: http://www.nj.com/forums/sopranos/ The link may not work immediately, because it is being HAMMERED with people furious about the finale.
phil gettin shot then ran was good but what the deal with the end who was that guy that walked into the bathroom i thought someone was going to cap tony the way meadow just kinda ran in so when is the movie going to be made time to bring back the wire and dexter
I think it was pretty clear that the guy was there to kill Tony and/or the rest of the family. Even if he wasn't, then Tony had a tortuous RICO case to contend with because Carlo had flipped. Which would you choose?
I guess that leaves the rest of the story for you to decide. Everyone that wants Tony to get whacked, can have it... everyone that wants him to live but go down in the RICO case can have it... have it your way... I thought the 2nd to the last episode was better...
I may be one of the 5 people that loved it, shocking yes but I can live with it. I like it more openended personally.
I've seen some discussion online that says that the ending is a callback to Tony and Bobby's conversation about, "I wonder if you ever hear the one that gets you." If you go with that idea, and you consider that last scene as life through Tony's viewpoint, the image of Meadow coming in the door is the last thing Tony ever sees. He's been whacked. That doesn't make it any better.
Rog, that gas station sits right in the jughandle on the corner of 10 and Littleton Rd- we drove by as they were in production on that scene when we were visiting my family in April. I was kinda psyched that it was recognizable, w/ the Barnes & Noble and Rte 10 in the background for that one shot! I, too, am ultimately fine with the ending. I did scream at the set, thinking that, unbelievably, the cable had cut out at the most inopportune moment…but hey, they got a charge outta me! It definitely confounded any and all expectations I had. I think the final scene was excellent for the tension and insecurity it built up. No matter how they had chosen to end it, various factions would have been left dissatisfied for various reasons, so…what can you do.
I used to live right near that location, Glacier Drive in Morris Plains. We had the first Toybox DX Summits there. If you're fine with the ending, that's good for you, but most people aren't. It's essentially the old Schroedinger's Cat problem. I think there's going to be rioting in Elizabeth today.
