Re: Stoner/Doom I love stoner metal and doom, but don't smoke weed. Is that weird or am I just a square? Or do I just spend all of my money on toys, records and pizza? Norska and Martin Ontiveros, two great flavors that taste rad together:
Re: Stoner/Doom Dude I'm the same way. Kind of unrelated but I'm straight edge and my fav track on the new Baroness might be Cocainium... music is music.
Re: Stoner/Doom Not weird, but it certainly gains a little something, or at least seems like it does, being stoned. It's been over 3 years since i've been high but I can tell you, you spend way more money on pizza, records and toys when you are
Re: Stoner/Doom I was just mentioning that to someone the other day. Don't drink/do any drugs but still get really into doom/other stoner stuff. I'll say until you've lived in MY brain, you can't say weed would add or detract from the experience I'm having.
Re: Stoner/Doom I'm usually listening to stoner/doom sober, but when I'm high I would say the experience is about the same except you see me jamming to it way more.
Re: Stoner/Doom hell yea, was just listening to them. are they making their stuff more accessible these days?
Re: Stoner/Doom The Bloodlust album is on it's 3rd pressing, the 3rd pressing shouldn't cost you more then $30-$35. There's a few webstores in the US with it. Soundstage Direct might be your cheapest bet if you don't care about vinyl color.
Re: Stoner/Doom Just got back from Vancouver and got turned onto the band ELECTRIC WIZARD. Not sure if they've been mentioned here already, but was totally digging 'em. Liked their album DOPETHRONE....
Re: Stoner/Doom Definitely one of cornerstone stoner-doom bands! They've been at it for a long time and their output is consistently great. Dopethrone is fantastic but I think the one before it, Come My Fanatics... is even better. I also think there's plenty of recommendations in this thread to keep you busy if you're interested in investigating further down that musical path. Drugs, sex, every sort of filth... And ya hate the police, don'tcha?
Re: Stoner/Doom Got my tickets in the mail to see Royal Thunder, Samothrace, & Pallbearer on Sunday, September 16th in Lawrence, KS. I got to see Pallbearer at Rites of Darkness in San Antonio, but am very excited to see them again. They put out my 2012 album of the year so far. I'm also a big fan of Samothrace. Royal Thunder is okay, I have both of their albums, but haven't listened to them much.
Re: Stoner/Doom I so wish that pallbearer tour was coming to SoCal. That's my 3rd-fav album this year (behind japandroids and cloud nothings). Royal thunder is entertaining too. Haven't listened to the samothrace record yet.
Re: Stoner/Doom Melvins are coming here (to Knoxville?!) in a couple months, which is awesome, but to put that in perspective: it's sort of like Boris playing at an Oktoberfest in Wisconsin. Not complaining. Bought my ticket.
Re: Stoner/Doom beast in the field.. I've seen them a few times and its so loud you HAVE to wear ear plugs. they played a dive bar here and dust fell from the old drop ceiling the whole time they played.
Re: Stoner/Doom Saw that on Facebook -- Hope something comes of the attention it's been receiving. Scumbag shit. The Sword have a new album coming out soon! Heck yes.
Re: Stoner/Doom Speaking of the Sword. They like fish tacos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=su6vO7Egjvk
Re: Stoner/Doom I mean, who doesn't, though. I think I could live on fish tacos. I wonder if that's the entirety of their No Reservations bit. I saw that the hot sauce and that segment were mentioned in the e-mail I got that new album info from. As cheesy as it is for a band to have (or endorse, whatever) a hot sauce, I'm kind of tempted to grab it just because of its oddballness. Plus I like hot sauce and the Sword, so.
Re: Stoner/Doom Stoner hot sauce... It's been done High in fire has hot sauce. I picked some up maybe 5 years ago We the people need to find that fucking guitar. It's the guitar every Sleep riff was written and played with!!! It should be in a fucking museum!
