@ultrakaiju - Your last point is one thing that is really frustrating about YJA. I have been there myself, and it's a very sinking feeling. I'm also curious about Anthony's prize, good luck!

    @ultrakaiju @deafmetal

Won this Devilman. I have been wanting one for awhile. But was always to lazy to hunt it down. I was simply browsing YJA and there it was about to end in about 10 minutes. So I went for it. Also won a vintage Bullmark Dodongo for less than 9,000 yen that day.

@chimply.kaiju Great score and a complete steal! You know a few years back I had my sights set on one of these Bootleg Devilman and had a hell of a time scoring one. Seems like every auction I'd lose by 1000 yen. Took me close to 10 tries and finally a still packaged one went under the radar and I won.

Great toy. I appreciate the reissues by Medicom (Bandai reissue and removable mask Dogface) because they are so hard to get at a reasonable price- but having one of these vintage dogfaces next to it pretty cool.

Also agree @ultrakaiju @Alebrije -been there so many times hoping your bid would win and it would not blow up in the final minute only to see it go horribly wrong lol. What are you going to do though? You win some you lose some. I figure toy karma balances it out eventually with an incredible score!

Congrats @chimply.kaiju It is a great piece one of my favorite bootlegs, plus you were lucky you grabbed it at a good price.
Hahaha You're right @Lixx eventually life pays you off with a great score and the suffering of months of lost auctions stays behind...

Hahahaa, oh man, Anthony, my pain was your gain in this case. I had that auction ear-marked since it popped up. Then, fee hours before it ended (I was really prepped for this) I checked in, opened the window, and set it to wait (psst, don't tell, I was at work). Of course, this had to be the day where everything was going wrong with the computer system, I had to do several reboots, cache clearing, etc., to try and work out the software bugs, and wouldn't you know it, I only just remembered to check back in right after the auction ended. Man, timing is everything in this hobby! haha. Just had to share that story because it was too funny of a coincidence. Don't begrudge you the win at all, mine own fault, and it's better this way as I wasn't bumping up against your bids. So happy you snagged him. Like you said, an phenomenal price on that one. It is rare indeed you can come across vintage bargains anymore, but especially not ones on the more popular toys like this. Way to go Anthony!

PS - I choose to see the karma of this story, rather than being disappointed in the loss (which I was, severely, until just now reading this) as that he was just meant to come home with a Skullbrainer. Since it 'knew' I was being a doofus and going to miss out, it brought the delightful fella to your attention just in the nick of time. :)

Very pricey lot of minis for all those Gundam heads out there. :? Think I'll just have to be satisfied with the fella I have, though it would have been great to adopt this lovely little trio of Clover guys. This was a set that originally came blister-packed (hence the rarer 'metallised' version of ol' RX-78). Evidently there were quite a few people out there who were really after these. Ah well, time to the enjoy the pics I s'pose.

Okay, you think that last one was expensive? Anyone got a spare bar of gold bullion they are using for a doorstop somewhere? 'Cause this one is a doozy. Don't misunderstand my critique, this is one amazing figure; but gosh darn it, you have to really be a heavy hitter to adopt him I guess. I wasn't too crushed, as I could see this one climbing up there for a while, but it didn't stop me from watching it, and an - albeit little - pang of knowing I'll never get to play with such a fantastic toy. Anyway, enough words, I'll let you decide by, or at least admire, the pics from this hefty fella. A 'giant' size (48cm) Mach Baron from Yonezawa. A stunner to behold if there ever was one. Anyone want to let me play with theirs? (I promise I'll be gentle)

That was an exciting auction. It stalled at 970900 for the longest time. I had no idea he'd go so high  I wonder what the cost is per square centimer of that toy. I bet it exceeds it's weight per gram for the price of gold or platinum :)
    p.s. RB = Really Broke (now) ;)

I was watching that Red Baron from a distance. So way out of my league but so beautiful.
Reminds me of a Mach Baron from 2011 that ended around $4-5K. Bargain now.

This seems to be the time of the pricey robot. A couple of really nice mechanised fellows in this auction. Can't say as I was bidding, but here ya go, a pair of missile-firing Mazinger and Getter One robos from Bandai. A lovely duo, and with missiles too. Oh, and did I mention the original box? Really love the Mazinger especially, I'd happily adopt one in rougher shape without the package (though I am sure even then it would cost me). He's a great sculpt, and those delightful red fists of his.

It is very difficult to find them with the missiles and with the box is a plus. In addition the painting and the fists of the Mazinger look in excellent condition.:!:
That Mach Baron from Yonezawa It's like a dream, I've only seen two at auction and always end up at those crazy prices, but it is well worth going crazy for a piece like this...

Looks like one of Mazinger's launchers is broken. Someone didn't look carefully enough at those pics. And consequently overpaid...by a lot.

@Sanjeev , how can you tell that the missile launcher is broken? Is it the blue one with the missing back switches? Just curious!
Poor Batman, it looks like a fat cat sat on his face :D

Yup--the little white tab for the left launcher (when looking at Mazinger's back) appears to be completely missing.

That Batman has real condition issues and a busted cape snap. Rare figure, but for that price in that condition? Nein, danke.

A beautiful Tokageron but I would have expected him to end at around 50.

Bullmark Missile-Firing Mechagodzilla with all four missiles went for 50,000 JPY:
Slightly bent limbs (and tail?) and one broken firing mechanism. I still wanted it, but it went way too high for me.

Nice toy! Just curious, how far do those missiles go when fired? Does it have enough force to flinch a cat? i.e. smarts on contact, but not a serious "hurt". I've always wondered about these missile toys.

Every toy is different but they usually only go a meter or 2, some of the jumbo machinder missiles can be pretty powerful, I have had jumbo machinders that will randomly pop a fist as they are a bit loose in the firing mechansm. One in particular a taiwan Daitetsujin 17 bootleg used to pop his fists every other day until I took his springs out.

^^^Thank you! That is good to know! I imagine if a fat cat was sitting next to a missile-firing toy, he/she would not like being attacked. But with Emma and Henry, they attack toys immediately on sight, chewing them to bits! So it would be a test of first-response time :)
