Yes, GID. It was a zoo at the Sunguts table I heard. Again I was lucky my friend got there and was about to get a 3rd form but the 2nd form was already gone.

I would have like another Frankie and the new Shin Godzilla 3rd form. But screw those flipping prices.

    Some fun with Sunguts!

^ Two of my favorite newer toys captured by one of my favorite toy photographers. Vicarious thrills delivered!

Extra points, obviously, for screen accurate home play. Sunguts gots some appropriate squids, too?

Thanks David. I appreciate the compliment. You're one of my fun favorites, especially for Buta!

I have been searching for my Sudaru. I think it will pair nicely with Frankie. But for the life of me I cannot find it!

Well thanks right back atcha, Anthony!

Both of those SG toys make me swoon. I very much wish that I'd been savvy (and solvent!) enough to bring them home.

You grabbed their recycled-costume-trick Pagos and Neronga too, right? I'd like to formally request that you give the trio your Portrait on Pretty Paper treatment the very moment that you find the time.

I wonder if Gabora and Magular are also in the pipe. That'd be neat.

EDIT: Oh, yeah... they already did Gabora!

I just did a BIN now for the glowie Frankenstein on YJA. I haven't checked out Sunguts in awhile and only recently saw this on Mandarake while looking for the glow Gargantuas. Feel slightly raked against the coals at 7800 (given it was 2500) but all the others are way higher and the only one that was cheaper has loads of bids. It glows, it's a licensed character I love, small, relatively inexpensive, why not?

@chimply.kaiju how tall is this figure?

Unfortunately it will sit till my damn Glow Zazahn and removable mask Ultraseven finally come in from Bullmark around the end of August. Which I'm still not getting, because I see them everywhere (well glow Zazahn), and wonder why my middleman is saying end of August? Maybe it's for the Ultraseven, but the Zazahn is still not in either? Doesn't make sense. Using a new service so of course I'm suspect till they come through all the way.

    @Lixx

    Great catch.

That post was like a stream of consciousness poem. Quite a bit of information, succinctly conveyed. :D

I think we've all paid more than perhaps we should of, for a mini we just HAD to have, and if yer gonna spend big its so cool if the toy is GID!

I like the header a lot, very classy and sharp. That is one fuck of a desirable toy!

@Lixx - I know the topic of paying above retail for new toys is bordering on a religious discussion, but considering the popularity of these Sunguts licensed character event exclusives, I think you did alright. The people paying 20-30k (or higher!) for some of these are what make me scratch my head in frustration. I have been trying to track the aftermarket/secondhand prices of the Gojiras, for example, and it is very difficult to land any of them for less than 10k JPY. Whether or not this is all funding a global criminal organization enterprise remains to be seen :|, but that said, I will probably cave at some point in the near future if the price is right acceptable.

@Lixx - It is approximately 4 inches in height. It has trouble standing at times. Falls forward.

I'll just have to make sure I jam him in front on a glow shelf so he stays put then! Good to know on the size because he looked smaller.

@deafmetal yeah I think I did alright as well! The one that I saw at 2900 yen went for 6000 with 16 bids. I'll pay the extra 1800 to not have to sweat out an auction !

A couple things I just picked up. Basically add-ons to make shipping worthwhile. The cyclopean blob-thing I mostly got 'cause it was inexpensive, but now that I've got it, it's pretty cool. Maybe my fave of the three.

These representations from Mr Sunguts are so simply well done, they are a joy to own.

When I am able, I get them at a fair enough price.. The going for them is up and up it seems, which is too bad really. But there are some decent deals via YJA, randomly at times..

Fantastic photos, Bo. Sunguts' iteration of Baragon is so playfully awesome. Gonna have to eventually splurge on one myself someday!

And yes, isn't Baragon just a gosh darn cutie? Definitely recommend picking one up when you get a chance!

Nice! I can't wait to get my GID Frankenstein in the mail. Most of my items have arrived in Japan, just waiting on one thing and I'm going to ship. I suspect given his size he might be my go to toy to photograph in the wild for a bit lol.

Thank you! I just noticed today that Buyobuyo was etched in it's hindquarters, and I did see it referred to someway as "yokai" online, but I couldn't seem to find any preexistence of a Buyobuyo yokai. So, it seems to be invented? Not that I disapprove.

Apparently, buyobuyo means "soft and flabby" in Japan. And... there's a vine in the Philippians called Buyo Buyo. Not sure what that's going to get me, though.

Edit: Missed the photos, Bo, those are great.

I think this may be the inspiration for the Buyobuyo:

    Interesting, thanks for sharing!

I found it funny that the translation when i bought one on YJA was:
    'Soft & Flabby Ghost'.
